What is a hookah bar?

I mean, I know what a hookah is, but why a hookah bar?

Besides...I thought that, in most states, smoking in bars was banned?

I'm confused. And I'm also being forced to face the realization that I'm....

5. Because some people who smoke are interested in trying something different.

Everybody can get ahold of pipes, cigars and cigarettes. It's not as easy to get ahold of a water pipe that isn't full of pot resin.

That, and it's a 'classy' thing to do I s'pose. Smoking from a hookah is like drinking expensive wine in one of those big glasses.

17. In Illinois, it's a way around the smoking ban.

If they were in business before the ban went into effect, and if they serve minimal food (can't recall the exact restrictions, but there was an article about this in the Trib), people can still legally smoke--using hookahs--in them. That's their main purpose.

two of the restaurants have already closed. There's no money coming in. But they're putting a $100,000 antique mantel in the lobby of their new offices... They eliminated 2 positions yesterday at 4:00pm

11. they offer specialty tobacco that is hard to find

it is kind of like a coffee house for smokers....

they have all kinds of exotic and different tobacco to smoke.

they smoked orange-kiwi at the hookah bar the other night. Sounded more like a drink or a dessert than something you'd smoke.

I guess I'm just an old fogey.
