Last 'Harry Potter' Book Becomes 2 Films
LOS ANGELES (March 13) - Harry Potter was the center of seven novels, but he'll star in eight films. The final book in the wildly successful series will be made into two films, the Los Angeles Times first reported Wednesday.

Producers announced Thursday that J.K. Rowling's last "Potter" installment, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," will be split into two parts on the big screen. The first film is slated for release in November 2010, with part two following in May 2011.

David Yates, who helmed "Order of the Phoenix" and is currently at work on "Half-Blood Prince," will direct both portions of "The Deathly Hallows," making him the first individual to direct more than two "Potter" installments. All of they key stars are also onboard.
The decision to cut the book in two "was born out of purely creative reasons," producer David Heyman told the Times. "Unlike every other book, you cannot remove elements of this book."

7. Yeah, they shoulda started this a while back.
There are so many little plot points that got left out that turn out to be important by the end... I don't know how they're gonna make up for what they've had to cut out already.

4. I'm glad they'll be filming them at the same time.
I can handle a November to May wait - I couldn't handle waiting from November to November two years later.

:woohoo:

8. I wish that they'd been this wise regarding "Watchmen".
They've even done so for the upcoming live-action version of "Akira", which of course remains to be determined as a success or failure...

9. Wasn't Col. Potter in M*A*S*H?
January 24th, 2009. In the oval office of the new Democratic president:

The Secretary of Defense is giving the President the daily briefing. He concludes by saying: "Yesterday, three Brazilian soldiers were killed."

"OH NO!" the President exclaims. "That's terrible!"

The President's staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the President sits, head in hands.

Finally, the President looks up and says, "One Brazilian is too many! I am glad that we are beginning to draw down our presence in Iraq and put an end to this long national nightmare."
