Just one wrong thing happens, and I lose control

My anxiety comes back with a vengeance , flooding my emotions , just want to curl up someplace and cry. The little pebbles seem again like huge obstacles again.


It sucks to live like this , I wish I was immune , insensitive.

1. I had similar

situations in the past (20 years ago) and I found that running really helped. I got to where I was running 8 t 10 miles a day. It had a great mellowing effect. I also found a book by Wayne Dyer "Your Erroneous Zones" to be a good thought provoker. It was published in 1976 but I still refer to it on occasion. I wish you well.

2. In additon to running., (exercize))....there is an additonal solution..

You could take pills.. I wouldn't advise that..but there is a 12 Step Program designed for people who have out of control emotions.
It is called Emotions Anonymous. It helps. But it will not solve everything right away.., it is a long term solution.........Here is the link for more information.:

3. I know the feeling.

And it truly sucks. My meds work about 80% of the time, but it's still hard sometimes.

4. i struggle with anxiety too

an approach i find extremely helpful:

1) be realistic about how unlikely what you fear most will occur.

(spend the most time on the following step)

2) figure out what your reaction will be to the thing causing you anxiety. instead of worrying about it, think about what you will say, what you might do to avoid what you fear always keeping in mind that your actions should reflect reasonable fears and not overreactions. (i.e. i should not exhaustively plan to be in a plane crash while flyine in an airplane...i should ask a doctor for valium to calm myself if i fear flying in an airplane).

final thought:
someone very wise said that, you should focus on the present because:
1) you can't change the past
2) you don't know what the future holds
3) what you do now is most important to overcoming the past and making the future hold promise.

5. I think I am going to have a total nervous breakdown today

6. I've felt like the big breakdown was imminent

off and on for about 30 years. Still waiting...Nothing matters? YOU matter. The fact that you're on DU means you're one of the people who have figured out what's really happening to our country, and we desperately need you to stand strong with the rest of us. Get whatever help you feel you need, come back and help the rest of us stay strong too. Whether or not you may think its silly or pointless, I'll say a prayer for you tonight. By the way, I got fired from my main band this week because I have become unable to hide my anxiety in social situations , especially performing, and I was getting so weird onstage due to this extreme discomfort that they had no choice. So I'm just going to work on recording some stuff ( without the slightest illusion that I'll make a cent from it), and work with my counselor to try to learn how to overcome this almost-paralyzing anxiety. Also going to watch some Three Stooges scenes on you tube tonight. I find its pretty hard to get too down on yourself when you're laughing, and even more, when you're laughing at something so brainless that you realize you're laughing at yourself for laughing.

9. hang in there

And go see a doctor if you feel this bad. Better you see a doctor now than if things get worse. I just talked to a friend today who's fiance had a nervous breakdown a month or two ago. She moved out of their house and is going to therapy. It really sucks, but my friend said he thinks it's good that she's going to doctor's and trying to find solutions for whatever she didn't feel was right. When I was feeling like worthless shit last year I went to see a doctor. He didn't put me on pills or anything, but just knowing that I tried something helped a lot. Good luck Whatever it is that's bothering you, things will be better sooner than you think.

8. You're not alone. I'm going through the same thing.

I've had a chronic pain condition for six years. About a month ago, it flared with a vengeance and I spiraled out of control. Convinced myself there was no hope, my life was over, terrified of the doctors, etc. I became so afraid of things that my doctor actually dumped me because I was "too emotional." He was a jerk to do it, particularly after putting me on dangerous meds, but I now wonder what my medical records say about me!

Yesterday, I finally fizzled out. It was all I could take. I'm now in the recoup stage, and realizing that I will just have to deal with what comes, and the anxiety/panic only worsens my circumstances. On Monday, though, I'm probably gonna look up a therapist.
