i got fired yesterday
my manager came over to my desk at about 4:45 yesterday afternoon and said we had to go have a meeting in hr. i knew it was over at that point, but part of me was really hoping it was something else.

it's kind of a blessing, i guess, i was pretty miserable most days at my job. i loved the work but hated the company.

and please forgive me if i don't answer any questions about what my field is, it's just not something i like to discuss here

1. You have my sympathies, my good chum.
Never fun to get fired. I'm sure you'll have a new job in no time - at a company you actually LIKE, too.

27. I agree. Once things get worked out, you'll be better off.
That's how I felt when I quit my last job in August of last year. I felt oppressed, I hated being there, and I had finally had enough. Once I finally handed in my resignation, I almost felt free. A couple of weeks alter I had a new job that I'm still at.

I hope your freedom will lead you to a new job that you absolutely love!

It'll be OK, but I know how you feel.

Since that time my old boss has had 2 new office managers and has fired two other employees and went after a staff member at the hospital. Hang in there.

8. Congratulations!
Seriously, why go through life being miserable? I hope you find a more enjoyable position soon. I am miserable in my job EVERY second I am there. If it weren't for the fact I have eight more years to go until I qualify for the pension I would be gone.

I truly wish you a better situation in your future employment. Life is far too short to be miserable.

15. I'm very sorry to hear this but I hope it opens the door to something better
I remember being fired from my first job. I didn't realize they were thinking about it, but I had written a letter of resignation and only showed up to give it to them and offer to do two weeks if they wanted. So when they called me into the office, the first thing I said (I still didn't realize they were firing me) was that I was moving on. Then my supervisor said that's good because I was terminated. I remember saying, "does that mean I can go home now?". I later found out that all but one of my coworkers quit in the 1-2 months after I left/was-pushed.

And the funny thing was, it was a small company run by some freaky cult people (International Churches of Christ --check the Cult Awareness Network) and for being fired, I felt better and better every day beginning with the moment I left.
