A few quick snapshots of the winter storm that has hit here

It's still snowing and we could see another 4 inches by this afternoon.

I'd never make it out of the parking lot today in that little truck. Back end is too light and it's rear wheel drive.

1. Where are you? St Louis got hit with more than

several inches of snow on Tuesday. Wednesday it got up to almost 50 degrees and much of it was off the streets. Now it's in the teens and there is still some snow on the ground but not much.

I don't miss the snow.

south of I 44. Sorry. I'll bet kids aren't happy because with the storm on the weekend there will be no snow days.

9. The storm came up from the south and kept on trucking north I guess

AspieGrrl, who's from Ontario, says they got some snow last night. Probably this same storm.

Live just outside New Castle, IN. The Richmond and Connersville area are under blizzard advisory. This really sucks. We have trees and limbs down everywhere. Looks like a war zone here.

3. Birds. Got lots of birds around here.

Sparrows, finches, and cardinals as well as common black birds. I have no idea how they survive the winter. What do they eat?

7. Berries, I guess, if they can find them. We had a tree in our

backyard when I was a kid that had some sort of berries that would still be around in the winter. The birds used to flock to that tree.

I live right by you, and it is just covered in snow. We have drifts (especially where they plowed/shoveled) well over a foot. I don't think I'll be going anywhere soon.

12. Good thing is that I didn't have to go to work last night

I drive a truck for a living and I'm very grateful that they cancelled. Bad news is that I have to make it up on Sunday. Roads should be clear by then I guess.

20. That's a good idea. Yes, I like the truck very much.

It's a 2002 Chevy S-10. They don't make the S-10 anymore. It has been replaced by the Colorado. But you can still find them at used car dealers. I like their body style a lot better than the Colorados. I bought mine used in 2005 and it has been a good little truck to me. It has about 66,000 miles on it and I haven't had any major problems out of it.

Yeah, fortunately for us we don't get too many storms like this in Dayton. We get a little snow sometimes and it gets pretty cold, but nothing like this usually.

My camera's not working, so I can offer no evidence as stunning as yours, but the cars on my street are totally drifted in. Glad I've got plenty of food and DVDs in the house, 'cuz I ain't goin' nowhere.

24. I go up to Cleveland week nights for my job

So I was up there and heard the forecast for Akron and Cleveland and I knew we were going to get hit in Dayton, too. I came home yesterday when the storm started to hit and said there ain't no way I'm hopping in that big truck tomorrow. I called the boss and told him that freight could wait. We argued for a bit and hung up without saying goodbye. Later I got a call from his boss. He said we could deliver the freight on Sunday. I guess quite a few drivers called in and told them to shove it yesterday. I'm glad nobody tried to play hero.

26. That's a hell of a commute!

I didn't get out of work until 3:30 yesterday, so my car was pretty well buried, but I work downtown and I live near-west, so I still got home pretty quickly. Apparently County offices all closed at 2.

Glad your boss' boss is capable of seeing reason! Stay warm & safe today!

You all might get lucky and not get hit too bad. Last I heard the storm was coming up from the south. It may bypass Pittsburgh on it's way to them pesky Canadians.

28. My husband used to put bags of kitty litter in the bed of his truck

on winter days. Threefold reason: 1. The weight gave him more traction 2. Actual pourable traction if he got stuck 3. Our cat never ran out of "toilet paper".

We don't get big snows like this very often so I never really thought about it. I'm just hoping the condo association gets the plow driver out here by tomorrow or I won't be able to make it to work.

30. We didn't either but it helped on the black ice that is quite standard

in the morning here in the Midwest.

35. I put a couple large chunks of firewood in the back of the bed.

While it made all the difference whether I could go or not I would hesitate recommending to do the same. I have the load secured, but I'm not 100% sure that it would stay back there in a violent crash. Being in a crash would be bad enough without the added worry about a couple of 250lbs. chunks of wood hitting you in the back of the head.

I wish I lived somewhere where I didn't know what snow looked like. Actually Ohio isn't bad if you don't have to drive for a living. And even then it's pretty good 9 months out of the year. I have to go up to the northern part of the state for my job and they get a lot more snow than we do down here in the southwest part of the state. But this storm pretty much clobbered the whole state.

They started getting snow yesterday and it's still coming down. Not sure how much they got, but the concern is whether or not he can get out of there and get home.

Flight is supposed to leave today....at some point.
