Poll question: Coins on the ground - what denominations do you pick up
I may be liberal in my politics, but I am extremely conservative (or rather - tightfisted) with my money. It is just so damned hard to come by. Tonight I spotted a penny on the other side of a parking lot and went out of my way to pick it up. There must have been half a dozen people who passed it up ahead of me. I have no shame I guess.

So, Loungers - what is the minimum amount of money you would pick up if you saw it lying in the street?

2. Any and all. Wife found $.16 today...
I was a middle aged kid in a very snooty jr. high in Johnson County, Ks. The rich kids used to toss quarters on the hallway floor to see who was enough of a dork to pick up a quarter, then heckle/harass the 'poor person.' From that point on I always, without fail after 42 years, pick up every coin I see.

3. What's the most you ever found?
Once I found a $20.00 bill. My daughter found a $50.00 once.

6. I found a $20 in 1973. Other than that I have been up to $.50 range once in a while....
usually just pennies. As runners, we both, (not me much anymore, see the thread about body parts letting you down), found money regularly and were always sure to tell the other when at home of our finds. Silly little things that old married folks do. It was always of interest. Our other habit is to say "lucky day" whenever we find a penny.

27. I found a $100 once
I was 9. My dad was sure I stole it. It got donated to the local homeless shelter, plus my allowance. Plus I was grounded for a long time. And some "physical" consequences.

Thats when I learned not to tell my dad about good things that happened. Could help explain why I dont really care for authoritarian authority figures.

4. None of it.
It's not worth the pain of getting down there to get to it.

If someone else is collecting spare change I hope they get it. And I hope they get enough of it to make a difference. :)

7. A dirty, worthless penny because I don't care what you all think
Edited on Fri Mar-07-08 10:25 PM by Jamastiene
I'm waiting to initiate a question/I-Don't-Understand-You-At-All conversation with the person who owns up to clicking that last option:

"I won't pick up any money I find. I don't know where it's been."

I'm waiting for that one to get clicked. I don't care if that penny came out of a dog's ass. And yes, that HAS IN FACT happened because I used to have a dog, a schnauzer, named River, who swallowed a penny and I had the job of fishing it out of his droppings/presents for me. I was happy to find that penny too. What can I say? A penny saved from a dog's ass is a penny earned.

I'd wallow nekked in a pile of pennies from an elephant's ass if it meant getting sex, drugs, and rock and roll and stuff, lots and lots of stuff. Hell, I'd do it even if it meant NOT getting much at all of the first one. $$$ I like money $$$. I'll fess up and pwn it. Even a filthy lowly penny...because I'm that kinda girl. I likes it that way. :P

21. Be very very glad I wasn't around.
Wow, some nickels. I'd practically shit my own self over nickels. I do love shiny things. :P

I would have been RIGHT THERE with a fish scooper, a clothes pin, and a garden hose...all after the fact, of course.

11. Money? Where????
I've not seen any money on the ground for so long, I forgot what it looks like!

Too used to paying with plastic; I hardly use actual cash these days.

Mark.

I don't recall ever finding anything over a $20 but I have found bags of marijuana lying on the ground 3 times in the last 4 years.

A couple of weeks ago, after heavy rains, I found a nice little 1954 s wheat head penny worth between 5 and ten cents.

days are behind me, when I *would* lunge after any and all coins, and once a $20.

24. Funny you mentioned it. I have dreams all the time of finding mass amounts of quarters.
I find them in the streets, under chairs, in restaurant booths, etc. Always in my dreams, and I never wake up any richer. As if that would change my life anyway. But I continue to have frequent dreams about finding all this quarter change all over the place.
