Do any of the loungers play pedal steel guitar?

I've been a six string hack since 1966, thinking about doubling that with what seems to be the most difficult instrument around.

has to be the piano. Just sayin'.

2. Point taken, but will reserve a final decision. There seems to be a need...

with pedal steel to understand scales, keys, pentatonics, platonics, isotonics, pilates, and beer drinking. I only get the latter.

6. How true. the hard part is getting the listeners to drink as much as I am...

so they can fully appreciate my talents. My guitar playing peaked in 1967 with my garage band's gig at the Asbury Methodist Church in Prairie Village, KS. We got paid $20, as in $5 each. I think its time to tackle a new instrument.

3. Piano is difficult in many ways, but easy in others.

Every instrument has their ups and downs.

You may have to be able to read 17 notes and once and focus on different hands, and occasionally different fingers doing different rhythms... but on the other hand (no pun intended), you never have to worry about your intonation. :)

But everything else being equal, I don't think there's another instrument where the performer plays both the bass line and the melody.

7. Some guitar pieces do that.

Occasionally other stringed instruments will, but the bowed instruments usually just strike the low note then play a few high notes, then strike the low note again, ect. Kinda impossible to play on more than two strings at once with a bowed instrument. :P
