**OFFICIAL DU Reading/Watching/Listening list**
Edited on Mon Feb-11-08 10:09 AM by jasonc
Over the weekend at the First Official Monthly Minneapolis DU meet-up I was informed there was a DU reading list required to get all the jokes and references.

To get all the jokes, I was told I needed to start by watching all the Monty Python movies and then Spinal Tap.

What else should be added?

1. Watching Futurama and Family Guy is helpful.
There seem to be a lot of jokes (especially here in the Lounge) that relate to those shows.

And yes, definitely watch the Monty Python movies! :)

4. Caddyshack and The Princess Bride
are 2 of my favorite movies.

Star Trek, not so much.

:hi: Temeah, how are you on this cold morning.

5. Star Trek, Star Wars, Blazing Saddles, HP Lovecraft stories, and Dune
(though the Lovecraft and Dune references are much fewer in number, the street cred for knowing them is way, way higher than for other stuff and singles you out as a particularly learned and cool person).

17. I would have definitely gotten the reference, but not everyone will.
You opening yourself up to being flamed. You may want to remove that...or at least put a disclaimer in there so people won't think you're a racist.

Or else, put on one of these. :hi:

13. Office Space and Roadhouse, for sure,
as far as movies go.

I'd also suggest the books "Jitterbug Perfume," and "A Prayer for Owen Meany," not so much for the references, but rather the mindset.
