1. Generally an "I know" person.
The only people who say it to me are my parents and grandparents, and let's just say that I only speak the word "love" to my animals. Even then it is rare.

:)

3. My dear Amerigo Vespucci...
Normally I say "I love you too."

But it depends on who's speaking to me...

Usually I say it first...

7. Depends on my mood.
If I'm feeling cocky, I just say, "I know."

Which is something like 94% of the time. :P

10. Men love that question...
...the immediate reaction to it, whether it's verbalized or not, is "Oh shit."

:-)

Then they start manufacturing a response.

That response will contain varying degrees of fact and fiction. If you're familiar with NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), you know what looking up and looking down means. If not, you might want to read a book on NLP before you ask the next person "Why?"

11. *sigh*
bit of a sore subject, actually. If someone says it to me, I tell them I love you too, but sadly, when I have had the opportunity recently to say it to someone else..Silence speaks louder than words.....:-(

...for a pathetically grateful 'Thank you.' ?

15. Well, love means a lot of things.
I have people in my life who love me. I don't question their sincerity for a minute. It doesn't mean that they want to marry me or have a physical relationship with me or go down to Macy's with me and pick out china patterns.

It means that if I'm ever in need, they will be there. No questions asked. And I will always be there for them too.

So the grateful "thank you"...pathetic or not...is generally "I love you too."

That was one of the toughest lessons I had to learn in life, and I am still learning.

Love basically starts with loving yourself. I really do believe that we become a magnet for whatever we think, especially when it comes to what we think of ourselves.

I'm a staunch monogamist...I personally believe in one "significant other"...but outside of that, "love" can mean a whole lot of things.

21. Well, honesty is tough, but essential...
...that person might have cried in the moment, but if you'd strung them along, they'd have been hurt a whole lot more down the line.

Give yourself credit for saying what you knew was right in the moment.

25. What's really sad was that was the 3rd time he'd declared his "love"
for me. I've never strung him along, he just seems to have trouble getting the message ("emotionally immature" is the phrase I think I'm looking for here).
I was very direct and told him I felt nothing more than friendship for him and that was as far as it would ever go. I told him that there was nothing he was or was not doing or saying that would make me feel any differently. Then he cried...*sigh*

It seems to have sunk in for the most part this time, though he still keeps trying to set up "romantic":eyes: situations (inviting me to go to the beach with him, etc.,) and I have promised myself that if he makes a 4th declaration of "love" I'm giving him the boot. :-( In my opinion, it's not love if you put your happiness ahead of that of the person you're supposedly in love with. I get the feeling he's passing up potential relationships waiting for me, hoping I'll change my mind. Ugh.

Probably TMI...

Thanks for understanding though! :yourock: :toast:

17. I voted for
#1; however, my Dad was always one to say "You too baby". Don't think he heard it a lot until he had his 5 daughters.

That picture is an all time favorite of mine!

27. I voted "Other"
When I was young, I would probably get all hot and bothered and start fantasizing. Now some 30 years later, I would find it a compliment and a declaration of true friendship.

Does that help?

29. I only say it if I truly mean it, and my experience says a lot of people mean it in general sense...
...not so much a literal sense as I do. It can make for an awkward situation or two. :)
