Of course I have a lot of knife photos, I've been trying to break out of building homes, and looking for a retirement job. I have a hard time working outside in the real world. So I have taken up knifemaking. Haven't sold many, but it''s enjoyable. I forge them out of quality steel from the junkyard. If you know what to look for, you can find very good knifemaking steel. I have gotten into making several types of forge welded blades. They are made up of various layers of steel heated in the forge to 2300 f, then a quick trip to the anvil.
Here's a couple.
This one is the leaf spring out of a 63 Chevy pickup, with Elk handle, and mustard finish. I had a pro take the photo.



This is wire rope (crane cable) With pink brass, and Ironwood.



This is also cable welded inside a stainless foil wrap, so you can see the pattern.



My god I'm a newbie, and this thread is long! Thankfully it's the lounge, if it was GDP I'd be beaten to a pulp by now, sitting in a corner licking my wounds.
