I don't usually say things like this, but isn't it time for a Mod Appreciation Thread?

Trying to keep GDP from spontaneously combusting must be like trying to squash all the skeeters in a BIG old swamp. In August.

1. I've had the displeasure of attempting to hold my ground on unmoderated forums
and it's utter bullshit. Whoever decides to be the ugliest and most underhanded can then force others out.

DU is a breath of fresh air as a result of the presence and actions of the DU mods and admin.

3. The mods should ALWAYS be appreciated.
It's as thankless and well-paying a job as a Little League umpire, and yet they volunteer their time and do it anyway.

I'm also thankful for them because as bad as I can be around here, they keep me from being worse.

6. As a former Moderator, I appreciate you, my dear Redstone!
It is the toughest volunteer job I ever did...

It is laborious, time-consuming, and occasionally thankless...

Thank you for this thread!

And I like the job they do.

I did some minor "shopping" on the original drawing, to include the allusion to the mods...but forgot to provide a note designating the canon as a "thread-locking device"...

Not my drawing, btw...but in the public domain, as far as I know...

13. Yep the mods do a great job
I particularly like it when the mods lock a thread with a witty remark. Must be hard to keep a sense of humor sometimes. A shout out to my favorite mods..Varkam and Muriel Volestrangler, whom I have the UTMOST respect for.:hi:

but, being relatively new here, I was afraid I would learn a secret so deep and dark that DU would send someone out to "hit" me... :scared:

Just like I wanted to ask about "Redstone"...but a fell chill came over me whenever I even thought of it... :scared: :scared:

It's my name. Not necessarily the first or last, but one of them.

24. In that case, I would guess "middle"...
and perhaps related to a Native American ancestry.

Or not...

26. Not middle, but one, and yes to your second conjecture. Indians can have many names,
not all of them bestowed at birth.
