My Day At The Fort Smith National Historic Site With SPK jr... What did you do this afternoon? Pics?
We went there because he wanted to go and it was a semi nice day, supposed to be 61 degrees, but I'd guess it never hit that. Anyway here are some pics:

Some info about the site

We went to the tourist center and museum there. Saw the courtroom of the hanging judge Isaac Parker

Saw the jail

Learned a little about the native Americans who the fort was built to "protect" originally.

and SPK jr had the most fun down by the river there, the Poteau river runs into the Arkansas river

1. Excellent!
Good relations with family are always good.

Today I helped my aunt and uncle move into their new place. I'm going to have lots of sore muscles due to that, but the time I spent with them will always be remembered. Here's to SPK! :toast:

3. Thanks SPK
Arkansa is a beautiful, but very poor state. You guys have a great resource there as far as the country goes. I used to do a dedicated haul from Ohio to Arkansas and back. It is one of the best runs I ever had. The only reason I'm not doing it now is because another company out bid us.

13. It's a variable state wealth wise
the Northwest is quite well off

the Southeast is the poorest part of the state by far.

Such a terrible thing really, a racial thing is what it amounts to.

Why is the northwest so well off? Walmart, and then all the vendors and the spenders and all the service and other industries.

Booming economy there

the rest of the state not as much :(

I'm just south of the boom and it is such an obvious difference.

7. Awww. SPK jr is soooo cute.
Quality time--what a great way to spend an afternoon.

Me, I went to a going-away open house for my Conference Minister. Strangely, I was the only one to bring a gift. Apparently, everyone realized there's no point to kissing up to an exec who's leaving. But my mother's voice in my head told me that nice people don't go to functions like this without a gift.

So, I spent the rest of the afternoon driving home and worrying about what she thinks of me. Hey, it's what I do!

Thanks for sharing your day with us!

11. He is such a cute kid
And he looks like he had a fun day. You too. Man, I love those times, doing something fun with one of my kids.

I didn't do much today - worked. But my friends threw me a bachelorette party last night and that was a hoot.

Glad you boys had a nice time. :hi:

hey they are building the national US Marshall Museum here too

should be cool

the Marshalls went into Indian territory to find outlaws who were hiding there and really terrorizing the Native Americans who had been put there by the good old US of A
