So, lounge? How was your Friday night? Here's a rundown of mine.
Took BoyMidlo and a friend to the movies - dropped them off at 6:45.

BabyMidlo and a friend and I proceeded to the middle school dance where I was chaperoning.

Dance was sold out. Several parents were there complaining about such, because you see, no event in the history of mankind has ever sold out before and Buffy and Skip were SOOOO disappointed. GO THE FUCK HOME.

Little boy attempting to 'stuff' a la basketball the overhead door jamb falls and cracks his head on the floor. Several well meaning folks try to get him to stand before I can get there and state that given the condition of his conjunctiva and the rapid breathing, we need to call the rescue squad.

Rescue squad gets there. Child is taken to the ER. Thankfully, nothing more than a severe concussion. He spends the night.

Another child starts vomiting in the bathroom. I go in to get a number to call mom/dad and have to yell "If you're not puking, get OUT OF HERE". :eyes:

Another child states that she thinks she has appendicitis. No. Her belt is just too tight. :eyes:

Two requests for bandaids - cuts so small they can't be seen without 400x magnification.

Another child hurts her foot and has to go home.

Two kids apparently are left behind when mom fails to collect them at 9:30 because the ticket specifies that the dance ends exactly at 9:30, but apparently these idiots can't read.

Leave to go home with BabyMidlo and friend.

Collapse into bed.

BoyMidlo forgets to turn off the lights in the kitchen. Puppy proceeds to cry all night long and pound her stinking head on the door between the kitchen and the dining room.

So, how was your night?

1. I waterboarded Sniffa...
As in, there's something funky going on with his eye, so I bent him over the tub and poured water into it, over and over and over...It was fun...

Eye's still swollen and weepy though...It's odd.

2. My dear Midlo!
Wow, what a night for you!

Mine was a whole lot quieter...

Dinner, clean up, watch Jim Lehrer, then up here to my computer, big surprise!

DU

Writing more poetry...

Fold laundry when I'm tired of sitting...

Put said laundry away...

Off to bed around midnight!

Have you recovered?

I hope the puppy's OK!

I hate hearing them cry...

4. Mine was, fortunately, less stressful than yours.
I went and paid for the power-chair.

I negotiated with the dealer when the salesman wasn't there, and the salesman seemed a bit upset when he found out about the price I was getting. :)

All I'm waiting for now is for the accessories to arrive and be installed, and to find out from Access-a-Ride when I am approved to use the van services so I can get it home. Worse comes to worse, I'll take the long way with public busses.

I had dinner with Pri and Lisa, and didn't get poisoned. :P

And then I was home early enough to come here for a little while in the evening. Not a bad Friday. :)

5. Some jackass rang my doorbell at 2:45 a.m.
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 12:14 PM by no name no slogan
He was buzzing all 16 units in my building, looking for "Kristen". Apparently, he got her phone number earlier, and was told to meet her at her building. However, the number was wrong, so he thought he'd buzz a random unit (or two) in my building, looking for her.

Needless to say, I'm still in pain from my recent ass-over-head fall/concussion, AND I have insomnia in the first place, so I was overjoyed to see Joe Jackass, reeking of ciggies and cheap beer, at my door in the middle of the night. I told him there was no way I was letting him into a secure building at 3:00 a.m. so he could look for some chick he just met at a bar, and if he persisted in buzzing other units (my building is old, has thin walls, and very loud buzzers so you can hear them easily), I would call the cops.

Thankfully he went away, but I didn't get back to sleep until 6:00 a.m. :grr:

7. Mostly cursing my frig
Early dinner at a local diner, then to the grocery store. After putting away the food, I could not get the frig door to open. Ex SO and I pulled it enough for me to get my arm in and find the problem- the crisper handle was stuck to the door. Happiness! not.
We tried and tried and nothing. I got irritated and a hammer.
Ten minutes later the door was broken, and the crisper handle was no more. Twenty minutes later I was handing my debit card to the nice man at the appliance store. I decided the best place for me to be was the bed so I was asleep by 9:30.

I have to deal with the damn kids all the time, let the school have them for the weekend so I can have fun, that's what I say.

15. Next dance, we're making the parents all wait in the parking lot with a beeper.
If their kid gets sick/hurt and they're not in the building in 10 minutes, I'm taking the kid down to Dr. Bill's Pet Infirmary and having them put to sleep.

He'll do it for free.

11. That's probably my favorite Marx Brothers movie!

That whole scene, and Groucho's constant issues with the smallness of his room, is fucking hilarious!

12. It was interesting to see it with an audience of about 150 people.
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 01:07 PM by Winebrat
About 100 hadn't seen the film, so their reactions were fresh and sincere. The state room scene got the biggest laugh of the evening (as it chould have) and everyone applauded at the end of the film.

Beats watching it on TV.

10. Let's see...
I actually got home from work early...4:30! And then my roomie asked, no...begged me to come pick her up from work because "it's cold and rainy!"

I'm a sucker, so at 6:30 I drove back over the hill to WeHo, picked her up, grabbed some crappy dinner, came home.

Roomie didn't feel well, so she went to bed.

For some reason unknown to me I rented Superbad from netflix, so I decided to watch that last night. I have to give them credit for truth in naming, it was indeed Super Bad. And not in a good way.

I then watched some random TV in an attempt to clear off my DVR. And I was asleep by 11.

Until one of my lovely cats decided to walk around the apartment howling at 1 am, so I had to get up and deal with him...and then I couldn't fall back to sleep.

Now it's 9:30 and I'm getting ready to go to the post office, where I will no doubt have to spend the vast majority of the rest of the morning standing in line.

Wheeeeeee!

Oh, but then roomie and I are going to Untraceable...assuming roomie is feeling better.

:hi:

13. Mine was very nice. Thanks for asking. I spent the evening with
family, went to bed early, and finished a wonderful book. I was not too bothered with my insomnia, which is always a blessing.

24. Went to work at 0645....
...Did absolutely nothing productive except play Wii for about 4 hours. I tried to study but couldn't get interested.
After work, decided I would leave my car there and run home. About half-way home, and in the pitch black of night,
I realized what a poorly conceived idea it was. I live 23 miles from work. :wtf: was I thinking?
