1. Perhaps your local humane society or ...
... shelter could provide some useful advice, or service.

2. My local Humane Society/Animal Shelter ...........
.... took my cancer-ridden 17 year old little buddy and eased him to his final sleep. No charge. (But I was devastated for days.)

3. talk to the vet or his office manager
They will most likely know how to handle this. explain the situation. the first two posters
have good ideas too. Do not try to handle this yourself. I'm sure you don't want to cause any
more trauma for this cat. if you drug it you may only make it sick and I hope you were kidding about
dumping. worst idea yet and illegal too. I feel bad for you. I know you'll do the right thing.

4. don't do it....
Edited on Mon Jan-21-08 08:22 PM by mike_c
Please don't do anything that would lead to the cat suffering needlessly. I think someone needs to talk to the vet, or get another vet. Mine has euthanized four of my cats over the years and has never charged me a dime for it. However, if money is ultimately the problem, and the cat is suffering and needs to be put down soon, please PM me and I will happily cover the cost. If you'll send me contact info for the owner and the vet I'll call the owner and the vet first thing in the morning and arrange payment directly with the vet.

I am HAPPY to do this if it's in the cat's best interest.

on edit-- we can do this tonight if time is of the essence.

5. thanks for the good answers. I have emailed the humane society in her town
and I have made her promise not to let her brother "take her for a ride". I will contact a vet if I do not get a good answer from the humane society.
