My Grandfather's electrically-powered radio on the farm - pre-electricity.
From my uncle in one of the many, many family emails running around since my Dad died.

"He mounted a car generator on top of one of the farm buildings and attached a propeller to it. He ran wires over to the house, and put a car battery on the porch. The battery powered a radio inside the house. Wind power, circa 1945-46!"

I think my grandfather would've been called a mechanical engineer if he'd had an education. Since he didn't, he was "just a mechanic" after they left the farm in '55, repairing factory machines at McDonnell Douglas.

Just tho't i'd tell about this.
