5. Hmmm, didn't remember that. I know it's that way in Bermuda.
Then again, I seem to recall clutching my husband and squeezing my eyes shut tight because of our insane taxi driver. Who knows what side of the street we were on. Or if we were on the street.

4. Wandered through the resort as a cruise ship passenger.
About 7 years ago. Remember it was big and looked expensive.

6. I went to Nassau.

I bought a bunch of cool stuff. It was really cheap too.

It was the Class of 88 at my high school. We went over on a cruise ship for our senior trip back in '88. We didn't stay in any resort though. We just all got drunk and I took pills (a black one and a yellow one). I still don't know what they were, but I loved them. Ate them like candy the whole trip. After getting sufficiently wasted, we wondered around buying cheap stuff, drinking even more, gambling and partying. We stopped into this casino where you could use quarters in the slot machines. I won $2, got all excited at the thought of winning even more and told one of the girls in my group I was moving to the Bahamas if I could win enough that weekend.

Next thing I knew, I woke up back in Florida, on the tour bus, wearing a cut off tshirt that was too small for my then 38DD's (they've since been reduced) and my jeans were unbuttoned. I had $20 more than when I left. I remember waking up and feeling like it was 10,000 degrees on that bus. God, I wish I had some more of those pills. I can't find the girl that gave them to me though. Damn.

I think I had fun, but damned if I remember anything after drinking the bourbon in the casino and playing the slot machines. I always count it as a fun experience. I mean I guess I had fun. I certainly don't remember anything bad happening. I don't think. I do wonder how I got back to the mainland though.

the beach at the royal towers is nice...
the lazy river ride at the I believe Beach towers is a fun thing to do.
Check the schedule and watch a feeding. We watched the turtle and ray feedings...
bring comfy shoes...... lots of walking
they have a new sections called The Cove. We went there last year and the beach is magnificent and so is the pool. Just make sure you ask which is the public beach, they have a beach and a pool just for Cove guests
There is a new market place that has a Starbucks, Java Juice and and Ice cream store along with alot of really nice restaurants.... I don't think they are included in the meal plan but the Steak house was always booked until 10 and the Italian restaurant has awesome food. Its a NY Italian restaurant and they serve the food family portioned.... if you order a salad there is enough for the whole table....
The only GOOD thing about the portions is if you have a fridge in your room you have lots of leftovers.....
The casino is hit or miss like all of them BUT if you win over $1200.00
you don't have to get a w-2.... they come over and just give it to you!!

The Marketplace buffet and the Watersedge buffet are both worth going to. Watersedge takes reservations the other one doesn't.
Also Murray's Deli has wonderful sandwiches... yummmmm
I did the tube ride but not the leap of faith. I recommend it BUT it is dark....
We didn't get to go to the new water park by the Cove... but if the screams coming out of it were any indication??? !! It sounded fun.
Use sunscreen, be careful of the hawkers on the beach.
GO to the spot on the beach where they have the jet skis if you want to rent one
DO NOT give your money to anyone who approaches you in the beach about it....
Nassau is OK for a few hours of shopping.... just stay aware, its crowded.
We did eat at a local restaurant and the food was great.
What part are you staying in??
and do you have kids?? how old??

If you have questions just ask I will try to answer them
we own a time share in Harbor side

oh yeah
A nice quiet pool and outdoor restaurant is at the Harborside nothing fancy but
nice to get away from the crowds once in a while....

busses run back and forth to ALL the sections of the hotel, but you might have to go to the Royal towers to get on a bus to the cove... you'll figure it out :)

and driving is on the left
on edit: you must have at LEAST one Miami Vice by a pool

1/2 pina colada and 1/2 strawberry daquiri......

lost

9. I've stayed there.
It's beautiful. We had a wonderful time. It's VERY pricey, though.

10. Words of wisdom: Check Trip Advisor
It is full of customer reviews of specific hotels and resorts.

Is this the right link?

11. The economic disparity is depressing
I went there in 1979 and hated the way the native Bahamians had to live in crappy little shacks while working at the big hotels waiting on fat white tourists.

12. Grand Bahama
Wouldn't go back.
Food was lousy and expensive, best meal we had was at an Irish pub.
I thought the snorkeling was crap, few fish and bleached out reefs.
I didn't think the island itself was all that attractive either.
