Someone spelled my name wrong on a check
It's not a personal check; it's printed. Only one letter is off. What should I do? Call them up and get them to send another one? Or just hope the bank doesn't see.

1. sign it exactly how they printed your name.
yes misspell your own name, that the way it works. The bank may want to also spell it correctly underneath ass well.

3. Ditto
People write me checks all the time with my nickname instead of my name. I sign the nickname first, then my name and the bank has no problem with it.

7. That's how I was always taught to do it.
Sign the misspelled name, then sign your correct name immediately below that.

If there's any question, don't endorse the check until you get to the bank and ask them how they prefer it be done.

2. I think it should be OK
just endorse with your usual signature. I've had checks made out to my nickname (completely different than what's on my account) and they've gone through with no problem. Of course YMMV.

4. Yes I went to the bank and it was okay
Just signed twice- once with the misspelled name and the other the right way.

I am sure this happens all the time.

5. Yeah, it does. I'm glad you got your money. Now, this was YOUR bank you went to, right?
If it was not your bank, but the bank the check was drawn on, you might have run into trouble. I used to be in banking; I've seen everything...

6. Don't care how they spell my name
as long as it clears.
