We spent more than ever on Christmas this year
Our entire gift list:

One tank of home heating oil

Two car repairs

A pair of glasses

A pair of slippers

A flashlight

It was our most expensive Christmas ever.

Sigh.

1. This Christmas was a little bit rough for me, too
I had to put $500 into my car. I didn't do too bad, though. I spent $360 on gifts. Between the car repair and the gifts it's going to set me back a little as far as some investment plans I'd made. But you gotta do what you gotta do when it comes to transportation. And I love my family so the gifts don't really hurt. I didn't have to finance Christmas this year or the car repair. I guess I'm doing alright.

2. Did you at least get something fun
We didn't buy so much as reindeer-festooned pair of boxer shorts. I remember when we used to buy fun stuff for Christmas instead of home heating oil. But the in-laws are on a fixed income and it ain't going so far nowadays.

3. Same with our family...
Christmas has gotten a whole lot smaller and a whole lot more practical, lately.... :( I mean, some of that is owing to an awareness of not being wasteful/giving something just to give *something,* but I think some of it is owing to people's pocketbooks being a whole lot skinnier as of late.
