When you were a kid, how did you think Santa delivered all the gifts?
Edited on Sun Dec-23-07 05:29 PM by Drunken Irishman
It's always cute to see kids' imaginations when it comes to Santa. When I was a kid, I always thought Santa had the ability to stop time when we were sleeping, giving him all the time in the world to deliver every gift to children across the world. I think I thought this because my parents were always so rigid on the time I had to go to bed on Christmas Eve. It never varied, I would think that maybe if I were awake during the part where Santa stopped time, something horrible would happen. So I'd spend some nights trying to force myself asleep because I was afraid I'd get stuck in some time vortex dealio.

Also, I grew up in a house with no fireplace, so I always wondered how Santa came into the house. Our neighborhood was pretty crime ridden, so on every Christmas Eve night I'd demand my parents keep the front door unlocked, but they wouldn't. I think they told me Santa had the ability to shrink himself down so small that he could enter the house through the bottom of the door.

Of course I believed 'em. :D

1. I never gave it any thought. I just thought Santa was magical.
It was finding out that my mom was the Easter Bunny that took me by surprise. I caught her hiding the candy eggs and I was crushed to learn there wasn't really an Easter Bunny. Go figure?

2. I think I just asked if there was no Easter Bunny.
And when my mom said that there wasn't, I kinda knew that meant there wasn't a Santa Claus either. :(

4. Same here. I always thought Santa was one of those thigns that couldn't be explained.
I think I also knew that if I thought too much about it, I'd probably learn that he wasn't really, and I really didn't want to learn that. I liked believing in Santa Claus. :)

3. For a long time when I was growing up I did live in a house with a chimney
so I thought Santa really did come down the chimney. Hung my stockings on a real mantel and weighted them down with stuff as best I could because they didn't make stocking hangers back then like they do now. It would be lying on the hearth next morning, weighted down with candy and stuff.

My mother would always make a big deal out of having to open the fireplace damper (we never actually had any fires in the fireplace) on Christmas Eve to make sure Santa could get in.

9. I just though he was...well, you know, Santa
We had no fireplace so I can't figure it out. But I do remember one Christmas eve when I was around six or seven years old and had to pee. Really pee. But I was sort of afraid if I did, Santa wouldn't come. I finally got up and did my business and Santa came, so it all worked out. Now I just get up and do my business and bitch about it. Ah...old age.

14. My parents left the front door unlocked, and Santa would lock it behind him.
Then I woke up once to get a drink of water, and my mother was putting out my gifts from Santa. I was completely depressed.

15. We had no fireplace, so my mom said they'd leave the door unlocked
And I believed her. The bigger deal was what happened when there was no snow--how could he land his sleigh? My mom said he came by helicopter. I never liked the idea, so I always hoped there'd be snow.

19. When I was younger I thought Santa made its way through the letterbox.
In the UK we don't have mailboxes but have flaps in our front doors where mail would be delivered.

Oh and Santa didn't do cookies and milk. He did sherry, or brandy, and a mince pie.

Mark.

20. hmmm
*I am not a little kid but I am 12, We moved this summer, but i lived in a trailor for 12 years of my life, My parents left the door unlocked, and if they try to make me believe in him I believed less, but if they didn't i believed more. I always wondered why all the toys Santa brought were stored bought, and now as I am 12 I try to believe, while my parents tell me he isn't real,
* I've been wondering about his existence to kids, it may be that kids don't really think about it, but maybe adults underestimate the reality of Santa, if you think about it he brings out the giving spirit in all of us, while he may not be a real man his spirit is completely real and lives in most of us during the holiday season.
* So if u put out gifts for your children, or donate toys to those less fortunate, you are
Santa to a child.
* Long live Santa, and long live Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone :) :bounce: (Can't wait till Santa comes!!!)

And I don't blame them. If someone did give me a gift that was "from Santa" I knew it was BS.
