26. thanks for asking, lost ...
she's pretty elated that she finished the dissertation (all but a few final tweaks, but the major big deal work is behind her). And doing OK with the radiation, though she's 7/8 done with the treatment so right now just feels like she's got a horrible sunburn over her torso.

I hope you have a lovely holiday, lost! :pals: right back at you!

27. oh, thank you so much, bertha
I went out there for three weeks pre-and-post surgery to help her, and it was just so hard to think of what was happening to her, emotionally and physically. But then again, it was the first time in decades I'd gotten to spend that much time with her, so while I'd do anything to make the cancer 'un-happen', so to speak, the time I spent there with her was great. When I wasn't crying, that is.

Here's to ALL of us women - including you, dear bertha - who stand by our families!  and very happy holidays to you, Mrs. V., your kitties and extended family.

Who did an unpopular thing back when its was popular to support segregation, and helped at least one city in the St. Louis area to pass desegregation legislation. Oh, and my great-great grandmother, one of the first graduates of Sanford-Brown. OK, and also my Great-Grandmother, who had to raise 5 kids on her own, including my Grandmother, when her husband died when my Grandmother was only 4.

17. My best friend from growing up.
She went to law school on the weekend and over the summers while teaching full-time while her hubby got depressed and couldn't find work after finishing his master's. The law school was almost two hours away, and she made it work. I'm still really impressed with her. :)
