Your favourite store-bought coffee?
Edited on Fri Dec-21-07 02:59 PM by Evoman
I have two current favourites:

1) Kick Ass coffee by Kicking Horse coffee. Dark, full-bodied, delicious. Little bit more expensive and you have to grind your own. Website: http://www.kickinghorsecoffee.com/

2) Edwards West Coast Dark. Pretty cheap mainstream coffee, but delicious nevertheless. I tried it after being dissatisfied with Nabob (ew) or Maxwell House (ick).

Your favs?

We always bought commissary coffee for the Mess (dirt cheap,) but I had a coffeepot in my office with the good stuff. I got lots of visitors.

13. That's why I don't have one...
...because everyone will show up, and yet not chip in anything. I bring my coffee to work in a thermos. We're supposed to be getting better coffee at the commissary soon (Starbuck's or Seattle's best I think), but other than that, just the normal boring Foldgers, Yuban, etc.

9. Its sold in grocery stores
in Mississippi and Louisiana. Don't know if its retailed elsewhere. Its a nice flavorful cup. We've gotten the occasional dunken donuts bag of coffee, but always migrate back to Community.

11. Graffeo Coffee Roasting Company
Light, dark, and decaffeinated, why complicate things? The blend of the actual beads has changed little over the decades. They roast their own beans and don't let them sit around in a warehouse for a month before selling them. For years, the lions-share of their business has been the finer restaurants in the San Francisco bay area. Two stores; one in North Beach, San Francisco, the other in downtown San Rafael.

To score a pound of freshly ground beans that are still warm is truly special.

15. Peet's is the new "in" coffee I understand, but not as good as Illy's.
Ernesto Illy was quoted as saying that "Starbucks coffee tastes like a fire brigade put out the roasted beans." Gotta love that!

22. Not to make you envious, mind you, but I am going to Torino, Italia in May.
I will be visiting one of the 5 top coffee houses in Turin, "al Bicerin." It dates back to the 18th century and some of its "customers" include Napoleon and Freud! They have a drink called the "bicerin," a calorie bomb with coffee, chocolate and heavy cream.

I will think of my DU friends as I sip this incredible coffee near the market in Porto Palazzo...

39. 8 O'Clock is my favorite brand..you can find it at...
Food Lion
Kroger
and possibly Harris Teeter...

at least here in NC

I know there used to be Safeway stores in San Diego, so since they are
also in the east, try requesting they carry it.

DD is great coffee. Nothing fancy, just plain dark coffee that will keep you up for days. I got hooked on it years ago when I had a third shift job.

I prefer the straight Columbian, black (no cream, no sugar, etc.).

I still buy it on occasion (whenever I can actually find a DD around here) but I know someone who works at Starbucks who's always getting free bags (she doesn't drink coffee), so she keeps bringing them over to me. Not that I'm complaining at all...
