Light and fluffy -- what do you eat on your pizza?
Normally I'm a veggie girl but tonight I'm indulging in canadian bacon. Secondarily, pineapple on pizza, crime against nature or a delicious contrast?

1. Pineapple on pizza: a delicious contrast.
Sometimes I like just pineapple as a topping; sometimes I like both pineapple and Canadian bacon.

And then, there's sausage!

But pepperoni? Not my taste at all!

2. I only like pepperoni if it's crispy
most of the time it's looks like a little disgusting sponge filled with red oil...ewww but rather delish when crisp.

4. I like just about any pizza, as long as no sausage/green pepper
is on it.

Hmm...pizza sounds good about right now...

5. I like anything but seafood on pizza.
But the dough and the sauce both have to be good, whatever their form. Life's too short to eat cardboard and ketchup.

...green pepper, shrooms, Ital. sausage, and pepperoni.

And, I have paid the price.

10. pineapple is not a pizza topping
neither is chicken. Yes, you can put those things on there, but you could also add entire hamburgers, toilet paper, wood, graham crackers, etc. I personally like sausage, pepperoni, onions, peppers, garlic, tomato, basil.... you know, pizza toppings! I find both ham and mushrooms to be morally abhorrent foods, but as they are accepted as foods, they are suitable pizza toppings, just not for me.

Feel that? That's my late Italian great-grandmother Lucy rolling out of her grave and heading towards you with a wooden spoon in one hand and a cheesegrater in the other!

Run! Run for your lives!!!

30. My mom always says there's a reason most people don't live past their 80s
Because their minds couldn't wrap around some of the stuff that develops in 100 years. Cell phones, the internets, all that, yeah sure. But my grandparents would have lost their cannoli over pineapple on pizza!

Hey, K42, are we related? My grandma Lucia was a great wielder of the wooden spoon too! My mom learned everything she knew about waving that sucker around in a threatening manner from her!

Edited on Thu Dec-20-07 01:36 PM by krispos42
My mom's father's side of the family is unknown to me.

And my mom's family is from the NYC area.

He he he, that would be weird, wouldn't it? :-)

Some of my grandmother's relatives did stay in NYC. If Lucia made her way to western NY, could very well be!

14. I like sausage and mushrooms, and sometimes spinach
My family mostly prefers pepperoni, which I like ok, except when it's beef pepperoni, which is about the only kind I can get in the Muslim country I live in. YUCK!!!

16. Meat--lots of it. And cheese.
The only non-animal topping I will condescend to allow near my pizza are sliced mushrooms, because mushrooms fucking rock. Otherwise, I want a pizza full of pepperoni, sausage, beef, bacon, ham, canadian bacon, even anchovies. If it came from an animal and is an available topping at Pizza Hut, I will likely order it.

Needless to say, I tend to eat pizza like once a year, in order to hold at bay the inevitable coronary. ;)

19. I used to think that pineapple on pizza was near blasphemy
until a friend introduced me to pepperoni and pineapple as a combination. It's not something that I do frequently, but it is a surprisingly tasty contrast between the spicy/saltiness of the pepperoni and the sweetness of the pineapple.

20. I tend to stay away from meat, because it seems to get so greasy
unless, of course, we're talking chicken.

I love a good spinach and feta pizza

I love a pizza that has unusual (for pizza) cheeses on it (like SMOKED mozarella or gorgonzola)

I LOVE mushrooms and onions on a pizza

Jalapeno, artichoke hearts, and other non-ridiculous toppings (e.g. pineapple) are delicious.

28. Asparagus/prosciutto/goat cheese, tomato/basil/fresh mozzarella, tomato/bacon/arugula...
But hey, sometimes cheese and sausage hits the spot! My major requirement is that pizza be very thin with not too much cheese or sauce. Beyond that, I like lots of different ingredients except seafood and bell peppers (I'm allergic). Pineapple can be lovely with the right mix of ingredients. I don't like it with a red pizza sauce though.

34. Peanut Butter and Bananas
35 years ago when stationed in the desert of California there was a local pizzeria that served the Monkey Special, peanut butter and banana Pizza. It was outstanding. One large and a case of beer was a banquet in the barracks.
