3. Who dat? by Heltah Skeltah
Undastand in the midst of utter confusion I got sumpin for stars
Frontin in cars and bars when I lace you with my gym star
Recognize real never the rap that's rungy
But my (pow) make yo' snap like bungee
Once we, unite, like I'm Martin Luther

So who's the, wiggy that wanna test me and address me
Just to try an impress me them people come and stress me

He doesn't say Martin Luther King, Jr.; he says Martin Luther. So he must be talking about the dude who nailed the theses to the church door in Wittenburg, right?

4. Super Disco Breakin' alludes to it
By the Beastie Boys.

In part:

Sometimes I like to brag sometimes I'm soft spoken
When I'm in Holland I eat the pannenkoeken
World is the the spice you bring the sauce
You can kiss my ass you funky boss
Now that you got what you want, you want more
I'll be with the hammer and the nail at your door

7. I've found a real one for this
Swing That Thing
by Joel Mabus

...

Louis was the king of France, but Louis didn't stand a chance
When the people said "Swing That King!"
And Luther told the Pope of Rome -
He said, "Pops, leave your stuff at home,
'Cause the people up here gonna do that Zwingli Thing!"
Swing it high, swing it low,
Swing it upside down,
Once you start to swing that thing
You'll never touch ground!
Mozart said to JS Bach, "Johan, put your horn in hock,
Man, 'cause you ain't never gonna swing your thing."
Swing it high, swing it low,
Swing it upside down.
Once you start to swing that thing
You'll never touch the ground.
Everybody gather round when they hear that swing's hit town.
Everybody say Swing That Thing!
Everybody say Swing That Thing!

Yeah, do that Zwingli Thing!

9. "Siberian Khatru" Yes
Heavy on rebirth, nail, and Christian imagery. "Cold reigning King" an impersonal God walled off by bureaucracy? Plus the clear Luther reference.

Siberian Khatru

Sing, bird of prey;
Beauty begins at the foot of you. Do you believe the manner?
Gold stainless nail,
Torn through the distance of man
As they regard the summit.

Even Siberia goes through the motions.
Hold out and hold up;
Hold down the window. Outbound, river,
Hold out the morning that comes into view. Bluetail, tailfly.
River running right on over my head.

How does she sing?
Who holds the ring? And ring and you will find me coming.
Cold reigning king,
Hold all the secrets from you
As they produce the movement.

Even Siberia goes through the motions.
Hold out and hold up;
Hold down the window. Outbound, river,
Hold out the morning that comes into view. Bluetail, tailfly.
River running right over the outboard, river,
Bluetail, tailfly,
Luther, in time.
Dood'ndoodit, dah, d't-d't-dah.

Hold down the window;
Hold out the morning that comes into view.
Warm side, the tower;
Green leaves reveal the heart spoken Khatru.

Gold stainless nail,
Torn through the distance of man as they regard the summit.
Cold reigning king,
Shelter the women that sing
As they produce the movement.
River running right on over,
Then over my head. Outboard, river.

Bluetail, tailfly,
Luther, in time,
Suntower, asking,
Cover, lover,
June cast, moon fast,
As one changes,
Heart gold, leaver,
Soul mark, mover,
Christian, changer,
Called out, saviour,
Moon gate, climber,
Turn round, glider.

11. Yeah, back when I was a young'un
I used to puzzle over this. Needlessly. But when I was studying the time period, I came to the conclusion that in some obscure way, that the song was, in part, about the Protestant Revolution.

Still better than "My Humps" though, huh?

:hi:

12. Much better...
and don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of prog rock.

It's just sometimes, listening, I find myself thinking "come on, guy! really?!"

A salamander scurries into flame to be destroyed.
Imaginary creatures are trapped in birth on celluloid.
The fleas cling to the golden fleece,
Hoping theyll find peace.
Each thought and gesture are caught in celluloid.
Theres no hiding in my memory.
Theres no room to avoid.

See what I mean?
