Hide 'n' Go Stupid
The latest entry from the only non-political blog I read is so funny (story about her dogs) that I had to share:

Hide 'n' Go Stupid

We are still iced in from that big winter storm this week. The trees and driveways and sidewalks are solid ice, which means that the dogs haven't been on a walk in four days, which means they're going crazy. In an attempt to entertain them, we have been playing hide 'n' go seek. I get a pocket full of liver snaps, put them in a sit/stay, and then I go hide somewhere and call them once. Our house is tiny and there are only like five places I could possibly hide, yet every time we play the game they are amazed and surprised.

The first time we played, I sat them in the living room then I ran to the other end of the house and hid behind a stack of guitar amps. I heard them come running into the room, look around and leave. Then I heard them come back. Then I heard them start to circle and whine in frustration. Finally I had to make some noise so the idiots could find me. Scent hounds they are not.

Next time, I went in the bedroom and hid between the bed and the wall. I called them and chaos ensued. They ran into the room, they ran out, they ran in, they ran out, they jumped on the bed, they circled, they barked, they couldn't find me. Where did she go? Michael was observing this whole production from the living room and he said that Ripley's expression was one of total shock and confusion, like a little kid who gets separated from mom at the shopping mall. Finally, I started laughing. Ripley came running around the corner of the bed, startled herself senseless over my sudden appearance, and sprang three feet straight up into the air like she'd stepped on a rattlesnake. I died. I was rolling.

What a couple of goofballs! I understand them being amazed by this new game the first time we played, but by day four you'd think they'd start to catch on. Oh, yeah, she's behind the bed. Ok, she must be in the bathroom this time. Right, she's under the coffee table. No, they still don't get it, not at all. Even if I hide in the same place three times in a row, they're stunned to find me there. It's hilarious.

:D
