I know better than to solicit actual medical advice here, but what about non-actual?

If he's retaining water in his central body either of those systems could create that scenario. I suppose it might be possible that his blood sugars are out of whack--like maybe diabetes or something.

A real Doc would probably want to look for any swelling in the extremities, and would probably ask about any burning or tingling in the feet and hands along with ordering a whole bunch of tests.

You may be right that Jake is pregnant--especially if "Jake" is actually a "Jane" in drag. Are his boobs really sore too?
