1. about 40 degrees
suppose to be "nice" today... about 8" of snow yesterday

but lookout for the weekend...Northeast PA

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STATE COLLEGE HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM EST SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING.

SNOW WILL LIKELY DEVELOP ACROSS THE REGION FROM THE SOUTH DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON HOURS SATURDAY...AND COULD ACCUMULATE SEVERAL INCHES BY LATE SATURDAY EVENING.

A LAYER OF SLIGHTLY ABOVE FREEZING AIR LOCATED BETWEEN 7 AND 10 THOUSAND FEET ABOVE GROUND WILL BE PUSHED NORTH ACROSS THE CENTRAL MOUNTAINS AND SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY REGION...BEGINNING AROUND OR SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT SATURDAY NIGHT. THIS SHOULD LEAD TO A TRANSITION TO SLEET...AND POSSIBLY SOME AREAS OF FREEZING RAIN ACROSS THE SOUTH CENTRAL MOUNTAINS.

THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF MODERATE TO HEAVY AMOUNTS OF SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN LASTING 6 TO 10 HOURS. THIS WOULD SIGNIFICANTLY CUT DOWN ON THE STORM TOTAL SNOW AMOUNTS IN PLACES SUCH AS ALTOONA...STATE COLLEGE...WILLIAMSPORT AND LOCATIONS FURTHER TO THE SOUTHEAST.

THIS WILL BE IN STARK CONTRAST TO THE NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHWEST MOUNTAINS OF THE STATE THAT COULD SEE IN EXCESS OF 1 FOOT OF SNOW BY SUNDAY NIGHT SHOULD THE CURRENT FORECAST TRACK OF THE STORM HOLD...KEEPING PRACTICALLY ALL OF THE PRECIPITATION IN THE FORM OF SNOW IN THAT AREA.

ANOTHER FEW TO SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW ARE POSSIBLE SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING...ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE NORTHERN AND WESTERN MOUNTAINS...AS COLDER AIR SWEEPS IN TO THE REGION FROM THE WEST.

6. Gorgeous. Cool mornings, warm afternoons.
December and January are those excellent months in Houston when you don't have to run your A/C (too often).

11. Here:
Now
Scattered snow showers will reduce visibilities to two miles or less in spots across west central and northwest New Mexico through at least mid morning. Most of the snow showers will be in rather narrow bands across the area north and west of a line from Socorro to Encino and include the Albuquerque Metro area...but coverage will be rather spotty. Movement will be to the east at 25 to 30 mph. Below freezing temperatures in fog and light to briefly moderate snow will coat roads with a thin layer of snow or ice creating slippery driving conditions. New snow accumulations through mid morning should range from a dusting to near an inch. The higher snow amounts should be mainly over the higher terrain.

Today
Partly cloudy. Breezy. Patchy fog in the morning. Isolated snow showers in the morning...then isolated rain and snow showers in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 30s to mid 40s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight
Partly cloudy. Isolated snow showers in the evening. Colder. Lows 10 to 20. Northwest winds 10 to 20 mph in the evening.
