Msgr. Niebrugge is recovering! Thank you, DU!
Msgr. was upgraded from 'serious' to 'good' condition this morning, and was moved from ICU to a private room. He suffered a ruptured spleen, a lacerated liver, a torn diaphragm, a flail chest, a compound fracture of the femur and a broken pelvis and required 10 units of blood, etc. .

His doctor now says that he was frankly surprised that he survived surgery, but noted that in a matter of 5 minutes during surgery, his pulse went from thready and irregular to regular and his blood pressure went from almost undetectable to within normal limits. Prayer? Good medicine? Both?

Any way, I wanted to thank you all, because I happen to believe that your prayers gave Msgr. strength and that God guided his surgeons' hands.

3. He's a tough old bird!
He was in good physical shape for a man his age (73) before the accident. He jogs, plays golf, swims, etc. and also rides a bike when the weather's decent. :)

He's a great pastor, and a dear friend, and I am sooooo happy that he's out of the woods. :)

8. That's great news.
Prayer and modern medicine seems to have worked for Monsignor. May God continue to bless him and watch over him.
