What do you think of The Village, people?
Personally, I'd say that M. Night Shyamalan is the most over-rated director since Tim Burton, but YMMV.

10. I liked the idea, but the execution could have been so much better. I didn't
like the concept of the "monster" in the woods. I liked the idea of a community based on 19th C. communitarian ideals, and how they had to conceal the fact that it was an elaborate fake from their children.

OK, maybe not fantastic director. Talented director.

He's a horrible, horrible writer.

He should work on somebody else's script.

Tim Burton... meh.

He's to directing what Vincent Price was to acting. As long as he stays in his own little niche, it's fine.
