Life insurance has got to be the most boring topic on earth

but not so when your spouse dies and you're left with two kids and a mortgage to pay.

I've spent the better part of this morning researching and talking with an insurance broker, getting info on upping MrShine's piddly current life insurance policy through his work and getting a policy on me, too.

Unfortunately, his family's medical history is a disaster.

The monthly premium we're looking at ain't cheap, but once we get it dialed in, I will sleep better at night, knowing we're better protected financially.

I hate dealing with insurance, but it's one of those necessary evils, as far as I'm concerned.
