5. On rare occasions

I was in the Army Band for a long time, and on the rare occasion when we had to play an outdoor ceremony in DAMN cold weather, I would put on panty hose under my uniform. They did help a bit.

I've played ceremonies in snow, rain, and freezing cold. I remember one in Germany where it was soooo cold that instruments started freezing up. By the end of the 'pass in review', the only people left playing were the drummers.

He's a competitive cyclist. Most people think they shave their legs for aerodynamic reasons... actually it's because they are assuming they'll crash at some point, and it's easier to clean the "road rash" wounds if there's not a bunch of hair stuck in 'em. Ew.

In any case, it was disconcerting for a little while to date a guy who shaved more regularly than i did (hey, the hair's blond!). Now it seems weird when it gets to be winter and he's all hairy!
