Tom and Jerry is the best cartoon ever!
That doesn't involve toilet humor or swearing or the like. Don't get me wrong, South Park is still the best, IMO.

1. There is no doubt.
Especially the Hanna-Barbera era.

6. Did you say Road Runner?
Okay. Right now I'd like to show you one of my favorite cartoons. It's a sad, depressing story about a pathetic coyote who spends every waking moment of his life in the futile pursuit of a saidistic roadrunner who MOCKS him and LAUGHS at him as he's repeatedly CRUSHED and MAIMED. Hope you ENJOY IT. -- George Newman -- UHF

4. Nope...
Of all the clasic cartoons, Tom and Jerry are nowhere near the top of my list.

Tex Avery was the best cartoon director. Hanna/Barbera borrowed a lot of their best gags from him when they were all at MGM together.

5. Ah, yes the good ol' days...
When all you needed for a cartoon to be funny were idiots, explosives, and falling anvils.

Those were the days....

18. I got the entire first Season!

Complete with the Longest R&B story, Jet Fuel Formula, forty segments long!

However, the Box Tops one is a classic, too. All the world's economy is based on box tops, and Boris and Natasha start flooding the market with counterfeit box tops in order to topple the American economy.

11. Get out of the states for a while
US cartoons are fine but Anime raises it to an art form (occaisionally). I will take the insanity of Ranma 1/2 over Tom and Jerry any day. Give me the plot intrigue of Serial Experiment Lain over Popeye. Give me the edge of Cowboy Beebop over WoodyWoodpecker. Give me the philosophy of Trigun over Tiny Toons.

Here is a list(in no partiuclar order) of excellent Anime you may want to take a peek at to see what animation looks like elsewhere.

Series
------------
Ranma 1/2
Trigun
Cowboy Beebop
Inuyasha
Noir
.Hack
Silent Mobius
Serial Experiment Lain
Tenchi Muyo
Hale Nochi Guu (hard to find currently)
Oh My Goddess
Excell Saga (insane and only appreciable after seeing several anime series)
Love Hina
Revolutionary Girl Utena

Movies
-------------
Akira (this is considered one of the standard gateway animes)
Grave of Fireflies
Princess Mononokie
My Friend Totoro
Spirited Away
Kiki's Delivery Service
Record of Lodoss War
Ghost in the Shell
Armitage

Any of these would be worth checking out. Though I do advise caution approaching Excell Saga. It is insane.

12. I always appreciated the anarchy of Bugs over Tom & Jerry...
...while Chuck Jones DID do some T&J, his best stuff by far was at Warner Brothers.

I've never laughed so hard at a cartoon as I did the first time I saw "The Rabbit of Seville" and "What's Opera, Doc?".

13. Tom & Jerry equal 1 joke sketch
Carried out for decades. Let me guess. The plucky little mouse gets the better of the angry ole cat. Ok, we get it. The underdog triumphs.

Tom and Jerry were ok, but not as likable as Droopy. IMO.
