Most of you probably have no idea who I am or what I'm doing or want to. This is for those of you who do, to whom I guess I owe an explanation of absence for (which I don't think I really do, haha). A few people were wondering what happened to me, I had several PMs I never responded to, yadda yadda. All I can tell you is that I'm alive, still in school and living in Brooklyn. As for what I've been doing with my time, I have been trying to figure out a lot of things. Those of you who know me used to hear me spew about politics a lot, and for the most part, I haven't been doing much of that lately. I also used to do a lot of politically aware writing and photography, neither of which have I been particularly been enthused with in the past year or so. Right now I am shooting lots of music and fine art photography. It seems pretty crazy to me that I ever thought of going into political journalism. I'd be chewing off my ears in DC right now.

Currently I am working at a major music television (to stress!!! ONE that is not a part of MTV Networks!!!) as a production intern on a TV show dedicated to current rock music. I get to take lots and lots of photos of people, music fans, concerts, and bands. Though I struggled with the idea that this is what I am really meant to be doing, I am totally at peace with it now because I realize the impact that music has on people, and I want to capture this in a visual medium. You don't have to be a news photographer or journalist to have your voice heard. I always thought that you did.

and I was wondering how you were getting along. I'm glad you have found something that you'd like to do for a living and it sounds like an interesting career choice. Contrary to popular belief, politics ain't everything (I'm probably going to get flamed for that one :)). I'm still doing the same things I was doing back when you were here. How'd you know? I usually say I work at a music TV station and then have to explain that I don't work at MTV. Most people over the age of x aren't too familiar with Fuse.

17. I lived in rural area as a teen where you couldn't get cable, only Directv

And the only non-country music station you could get at the time(1996-98) was much music. You'd hear offbeat or up and coming bands before anyone else. My friends would talk about what they heard on mtv and I'd talk about what I heard on much and they'd look at me like I was from mars. Years pass, MTV and VH1 are available on directv and much changes its name to fuse. Does Ed the Sock still do appearances? Do they host awards shows in Canada? I know they still play untitled bands on that Steve guys show, but do they still play as many as they used too?

21. I started watching it as MuchMusic also...

I work that Steve guy's show, haha. Steven is still a huge part of the network's rock airplay. Steven's Untitled Rock Show, to be more specific. We play a lot of bands that don't air anywhere else on TV... not a lot of "unsigned" bands get played on the show, but we have sponsored unsigned band contests and the majority of the people working at Fuse support a ton of unknown artists. It's a bunch of music nerds running the station, so I like to think we have a lot of credibility.

Since Much turned into Fuse, our programming is USA based rather than Canadian. But I know exactly what you're talking about!
