It's Friday night and you're posting on DU. You must be married.
When I was single three decades ago you would not have found me at home. I'd be at the Mad Hatter dancing to the latest Donna Summer tune.

Now I'm reading political posts on a forum and getting tired at 10:00. Damn.

But now I can get sex on demand. Right, honey? Honey? Are you asleep already?

I don't meet many other people who've married once and stayed married.

This is me and the "Mrs." way, way back when.

22. Five times for one friend of mine
That's the record for me. But most of the couples we know have been married at least twice.

Some of us are lucky and find the right one the first time; others have to keep looking or give it up.

My philosophy is that you should just be happy. Either happily married, happily single or happily divorced.

I just wish my gay friends who want to get married could. But that's a whole 'nother thread....

41. Ezlivin, Mrs. Ezlivin is lovely
but you already know that!

I got married for the first time at 33. We're still married, fourteen years later. Mr. JulieRB and I were having a conversation this morning on "is marriage different than you thought it would be?" It is. At the same time, we make it up as we go along, and things are cool.

Julie

But yeah, 10 PM comes around and it's time to hit the sack and read for an hour or so.

49. Thats cause "you" didn't train em right. My SO's dad and I do 99% of the cooking
and 90% of the house cleaning. But then both of our mates are unable to stand for more then a few minutes at a time and both use walkers to avoid falls. Ever think it might be your choice in males at fault there? Or is it that we are exceptions to the rules of accepted knuckle dragging egotistical male types? Oh yeah, we both bitch a lot about people not wiping their feet at the door too, lol. Smile, not all fit into the caveman mentality of Christian male roles.

Common law marriage is legal in Texas and you can register it, but we haven't done that. We've made 13 years together, much to my delight.

I love technical types who can FIX things and change lightbulbs without frying their arsen!

He even plots stuff out on graph paper and diagrams rooms. You gotta do that when you've got about 25 bookcases (full of books, of course) to move. It's fabulous.

Simon and Garfunkel, this Friday night.

However, I thought Propellerhead and Miss Shirley Bassey's "History Repeating" would be the dance song he'd melt with and instead he walked the dog. Which is actually an awesome thing. since it's 15 degrees outside..

Oh, and I played "Not Ready To Make Nice" before that which is not dance able, BTW. Doesn't matter though, because it's a kick ass song.

I love you guys. :loveya: MKJ

I handle the 9, 12 and 3 feedings (via bottles of pumped breast milk). My wife does it the old fashioned way at 6, 9, 12, 3 and 6. That way, she gets to sleep all night. Luckily, there are enough night owls here to keep me amused.

I would've been out dancing, too, three decades ago. At a place called "The Poison Apple". I also would've been a freshman in college.

Now I'm reading political posts on a forum, and a little tired, I guess.

But not getting any. Still. Or again.

So, no, I'm not married.

What's your point?

29. (lol!) That makes me nostalgic for when the days of the week were sooo important.
When I was REALLY young, Monday was for laundry and Tuesday was for ironing and maybe Wednesday, too. Thursday was for grocery shopping and Friday was fish night. Saturday was for yard work, wash the car, watch sports and eat hambugers ... and parents' night out. Cocktail parties - hiccough and stagger. Sunday was dress up, go to church, and have a big family dinner - often pot roast and oven-baked potatoes.

Along the way, I learned that Thursday was find-a-date night and cruise Woodward with the guys, Friday was date-to-the-school (game or sockhop!) and cruise Woodward as couples night, and Saturday was date-to-the-movies night. No self-respecting unattached person was caught dead at home those nights lest they wear the big "L" on their forehead.

Gotta love that all-march-in-the-same-step time. Yup.
