Thanksgiving Day Football Thread
The Lions host the Packers, the Cowboys host the Jets, and (in college) the Sun Devils of Arizona State host USC in a game with Pac 10 (and possibly national) title implications.

The Lions and Packers kicked off already, and Detroit is about to score ...

Anyone else watching football today?

1. Are you kidding? I live in the DFW area
We load up on turkey, and yell in front of the tv for the Cowboys. Thanksgiving (football wise) hasn't been real good lately, but this year it means so much more. Been doing this for around 40 years - this is probably my favority holiday.

2. sounds like a lot of fun
As a Broncos fan, it's fairly rare that I get to cheer my team on Thanksgiving, but it's always fun. At any rate, I think today will be a good day for your Cowboys :)

Enjoy! :hi:

3. Thanks, and I believe your team is going to make the playoffs
If you would have asked me that a few weeks ago, I would have said "no way." But Cutler seems to be coming on, along with the defense. It's up for grabs not just for a wildcard, but maybe even the division.

I'm still nervous about today. I keep thinking Dallas will be looking ahead to next Thursday and the Packers. We'll see what happens.

4. as a denver columnist said, on Thanksgiving Day, Broncos fans should be thankful that
we play in the AFC West  They are starting to play pretty well, though, and Cutler had a great game against Tennessee ...

I didn't know that Green Bay and Dallas played next Thursday--that should be a fun game to watch, too :)

5. I guess Atlanta also hosts Indianapolis today too, but it's on the NFL Network
so I won't get to see it. Stupid NFL Network.

6. I miss the old Nebraska vs Oklahoma game. Didn't that used
to be played on Thanks or the day after? I'm an Iowa Hawkeye fan, but I always loved the wishbone vs option I(?) ground battles of old. There'd be like 8 passes thrown all game.

8. Yeah, I think that was the best thanksgiving weekend rivalry
Always, as you said, either on or the day after, and great fun. 8 Passes if you were lucky! :)

Just love this time of year, even though all of my teams are the peanut gallery.

10. that started well but ended badly
Well, from the perspective of a Lions fan, anyway. :scared:

Brett Favre was looking scary good from what I saw--I saw at one point he had completed 24 of 30 and something like 14 in a row? :wow:

But the Lions are still in the playoff hunt, right?

11. The Lions are now officially in a mid to high draft choice hunt.
They might beat KC Dec. 23 at home to finish 7-9; otherwise, they are a sure bet to go 6-10, after a 6-2 start.

It's OK. We Lions fans are grateful for one playoff win in 50 years. We are confident we can get one more in the next 50 years.
