Washable suits-for Men and Women
Edited on Tue Nov-20-07 10:31 AM by underpants
Hard-pressed shoppers trying on washable suits
NEW YORK — With shoppers getting squeezed by rising food and gasoline prices, retailers are hoping suits that can be tossed in the washing machine, rather than sent to the dry cleaners, will be popular this Christmas.

Target Corp. is introducing limited-time washable suit separates that can be thrown into the machine along with the gym socks and underwear. The suits are available from Sunday through December.

J.C. Penney Co. Inc. this fall introduced a women's washable suit designed by Nicole Miller, after rolling out a washable men's suit last year. The Limited now sells the "Travel Suit,” a line of separates that come in about a half dozen colors and styles.

Other retailers that carry washable suits or separates include Sears and Kohl's.

The suit separates at J.C. Penney, which range in price from $60 for a skirt to $132 for a jacket, let people look professional without breaking the bank, said Kate Parkhouse, a spokeswoman for J.C. Penney.
