16. Actually, it's started already.
There was a Salvation Army guy at the door of the supermarket last Saturday. He was enterprising, bringing carts to people walking through the parking lot. I had to put something in the kettle.

28. You forgot the decorations going up after Halloween.
I also hate all the ads -- for food, cars, computers -- that already have a holiday theme in November. :grr: It just rubs it in that we're supposed to consume, consume, consume.

But the people who really scare me are those at the radio station who play Christmas music all November. I love Christmas music and probably don't belong on this thread (though I did get my Christmas cards from a politically progressive store, so I hope that counts), but only a certifiable lunatic programs Christmas music for the entire month of November.

24. "Crusade for Secularprogressive Pagan Humanism with a side
of Democratic Liberalism"? A mouthful to be sure, but it's the nuclear option.

saying "happy holidays" to people.

That seems easy, yes?

29. Easy, yes, but this is a once a year event and
I'd like to pay 'em back for the endless Christmas music, the crowded stores, crappy ads flogging crappy junk and the haranguing to buy it, the screaming kid lines, the tacky ghastly decorations, etc. I have issues; I loathe this time of year. So, I'm for full berserker mode --

"Merry Christmas and bless you."

"Up yours."

30. I'm going to get fired at work for saying this but...
Happy Christmas!

:hide:

(No literally, where I work I can not tell my customers to have a Happy Christmas. Happy Holidays is as far as I can go. If my customers say Happy Christmas to me then I can use it.)

In which case, the liberals have won!

31. Excuse me? Where, specifically, do you work? I find it hard to believe that any workplace
actually does enforce the Faux News Fantasy that people are forbidden to mention Christmas.

Care to supply any details?

34. We've already had skirmishes -
the pro Christmas side has been out decorating stores in Christmasy ways since some time after Labor Day, and it's been picking up steam since Halloween finished.
