I'm normally more of a library person but someone gave me a Barnes & Noble gift card for my birthday, and I finally got around to going there today.
I almost bought the Onion "Our Stupid World" atlas. So wonderfully sacreligious. But in the end I wound up getting the next book in a manga series I like, and a biography of Allen Ginsberg.
The checkout line was pretty long, and then I got to the cash register. The guy working there, who looked college-aged, said, "Oh, Allen Ginsberg. Good choice."
Grinning like an idiot, I answered with the stunningly intelligent reply, "Yeah..."
Someone around my age who reads the same stuff as me. Yay.
Also he was kind of cute.

Maybe a lot of college people read that stuff, but I have a hard time imagining that the people who I'm going to high school with now are going to become brilliant scholars when they get to college next year. I think I'm going to school with a lot of future fratboys.
