How do you tell if a guy likes you?
Especially, how do you tell if he likes you as a friend or as something more?

Thanks.

29. There are some tells that can make you tell...
First, is he clumsy when he is around you? That's a BIG tell, guys lose all coordination when they are around someone they really like. Another clue would be if he finds any excuse to hang out with you, or to see you, I'm not talking about creepy stuff like stalking you at home, but like, if you work in a public access place, like a store, he ends up being there almost every day. Other clues include being incoherent around you and not complimenting you when you think he should. I know that last one is weird, but if the guy isn't sure you like him the same way, he will avoid, at all costs, complimenting you, even though he wants to.

OK, those are some of the clues, others have already been mentioned.

Good luck! And a bit of advise, life is too short to torture yourself in this manner, if you like him "that way" then go for it. Guys LIKE directness, 9 times out of 10, remember, we guys are dumb, and any subtle hints you are dropping will either go unnoticed or will only confuse him.

30. What if it's like, an anti compliment?
Yesterday he said when I walked in the room I looked like a deer caught in the headlights.

Later, he was sitting across the room and I was checking my email and had just noticed that half of my recent saved emails were from him when he suddenly sat down next to me. I closed the computer rather suddenly, and he said I looked guilty.

31. Sounds like he's overcompensating...
Like I said, guys are dumb, so yeah, those types of things are clues about how he really feels. Not outright insults, but from what you say, he's downplaying his own feelings for you, probably to prevent himself from getting hurt, if you don't reciprocate. I figure that he has some feelings for you, but doesn't know how to properly express them, a sign of immaturity, but guys don't mature until they are about 75 years old or so. Anyways, I would suggest that you find a way to "clear the air" with him. If you are feeling uncomfortable around him, or are having a crush on him, then I suggest you be direct, just don't over do it, you may scare him away. Did I mention guys are cowards as well?

One thing you could do is ask him out on a date, a real date, not a "friends hanging out" thing, and see what he says. That will, at the very least, clear the air with him.

36. It's not something you can find out by posting here
:D

it's more of an intuitive, in-the-moment thing. If you really want to know, ask him out for lunch or coffee or something and see how the energy flows.

And hell, if you're really courageous, you could always be direct and ask him...or tell him what you feel.

Good luck! :hi:

37. Depends on the scene I'd say
Where do you see the guy? Surroundings matter.

You know, if you guys only see each other in church thats one thing, but if you meet at a club, school, etc, thats something different. You also have the whole "is the guy a little on the shy side" thing to deal with.

Best bet.. Bite lip then charge in and ask him. :)

39. Yeah, especially if you pile on the flirtatiousness and he doesn't ask you out, he's either...
a) a complete commitment-ophobe who can't even get a relationship started, much less make one serious.

b) a total coward.

c) has enough self-esteem to consider himself marginally better than a sea slug.

d) not interested in you.

And in any of those cases, you probably shouldn't bother with the dude.

40. "Like you as a friend" Does that actually happen much? I am skeptical.
Not so much, imo. I am definitely in the school of they almost always want "something more" at some level. They may be mature enough to know how to control it because the friendship part is of value to them, but it is there. Always.

41. Course it does.
I've got female friends that I'm simply not attracted to, and I see them entirely as friends.

45. Would you view a guy friend negatively for telling you how he feels?
Would it ruin the friendship for you?

just curious

46. Well I am a guy myself so it probably would create some awkwardness for me.
Not sure it would "ruin" the friendship but it definitely would introduce a new dimension. Likewise if it were a woman friend.

43. Be a woman and ask him
the dude might just be a little too timid to make the first move. It's difficult for some guys since we don't want it to come across badly or ruin the friendship. It's best to just talk to him sometime when you're alone and feel comfortable. Don't wait too long for the "right moment" because it may never come.
