STORY TIME...What stories reside in this old house..Let's tell some
Edited on Sat Nov-10-07 12:39 AM by SoCalDem

The old man and his wife built this place themselves..

Let's call them Ed and Johanna Grayson.

Ed planted that tree on the afternoon of little Janette's funeral..

1. Ah, yes, Old Man Grayson's place ...
I remember walking past it on dark autumn evenings. Sometimes, I thought I could see the shadow of a very old person flickering in the candlelight of the attic ...

2. yes.. That was when the road was on the WEST side of the property
That road goes nowhere now, and dead-ends at the broken fence by the garden around back.

The new road is paved almost all the way to the property, and the well-worn clay grooves that led the rest of the way to the house, are all grown over now.

The last car that graced the driveway at the Grayson place was a 1966 Camaro, driven there by some drunken teenagers, on a very dark night in January 1970.

3. But, honestly, I don't know that "graced" is the right word
Tom wasn't the best driver even when he was sober, but he never let anyone else behind the wheel.

I rode shotgun, passing out beers from the cooler between my feet.

Joe was in the back seat, passing out.
