NFL: "It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime."
Statement by NFL Executive Vice President Joe Browne regarding the Super Bowl halftime show:

"We were extremely disappointed by elements of the MTV-produced Halftime show. They were totally inconsistent with assurances our office was given about the show. It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime."

2. That's probably a good thing
Personally, I rarely watch the halftime. The game is long enough with the extended commericial breaks. I like to get some fresh air during halftime.

4. I usually hate half-time shows and the lousy music they have.
But I was suprised Janet Jackson was so good. I really enjoyed her show. It was one of the better half-time shows in a long time.

8. Justin Timberlake ripped off part of Janet's costume
and revealed her breast with some piercing or soemthing covering part of it. You sawit for maybe 2 seconds and had to be looking. Of the 5 people watching the game with me, only 2 of us noticed it.

9. The music was more sexual than the boob.
I'm so amused by all the people who are wigging out over an exposed breast, but don't seem to be bothered at all by the lyrics of the songs that they sung. Anybody who is crying "THINK OF THE CHILLLLDRUN!!" today should be saying it about the music, IMO. I can't remember all of the songs, but we heard:

--"Got a nice package all right, guess I'm gonna have to ride it tonight"
--"It's getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes"
--I didn't listen to closely to Kid Rock, but I'm pretty sure I heard something about hookers
--And of course, "gonna have you naked by the end of this song"

If I had small children, I'd much rather have them see a naked breast for two seconds than internalize some of the messages in those songs.

12. The game was just a platform for the commercials.
IMO both teams were about average. They both just happened to be luckier this year than the rest. It wasn't a Super Bowl, it was a Yawn Bowl.

14. A Yawn Bowl?
I mean, I'm not a fan of either one of these teams, but I thought it was the most exciting Super Bowl ever (with the possible exception of Rams/Titans).

I got fucked up at the end, but it still was a good game.

18. I believe Halftime show decisions
are left up to the network broadcasting the game, though the NFL would have final authority. Next year's game will be on ABC, so expect the halftime show essentailly be an advertisment for Disneyland/world.

20. Maybe next year we'll have live executions of GITMO prisoners
I haven't watched a Super Bowl Halftime in many years. The Game was GOOD though I lost cable with a minute and a half left in the game, really, no kidding, listened to the end of the game on the radio. Wife was surprised that I wasn't screaming bloody murder..but what's the point of screaming at some poor Customer Service prole.
