God I hope there's a lifetime Award thing for actors like him 10 -15 yrs from now.

He carrys so many others.

Duke Wayne got a friggin' Oscar for True Grit.

Any other supporting/character actors should get such awards???
Post them

FARGO!!!!!!!!

1. Lifetime Achievement Oscar
a/k/a, the "we're such screwups we missed repeated opportunities to give this actor an award so we'd better give him this before he croaks" award.

I love watching the Oscars, but they're just one injustice after another, so the only way I can stand it is by not taking them too seriously.

You're right on about Macy. Everything he touches turns to gold. With the possible exception of "Mystery Men."

4. Mystery Men did have some good moments,
but yeah, it could have been better. Didn't mean to make it sound like I hated it.

7. agreed, he's awesome
there are a lot of actors who are so good in every role they play, never win (or get nomninated) for oscars.

Bill Macy is one of the greatest character actors ever - alas, they tend not to get noticed much.

9. Macy
Maybe I just identify with him.
Not Bill Gates, but I just get by as a sort of decent guy.

Great Actor

10. I can't wait to see "The Cooler"
I agree 100%! This guy is just AWESOME. "Door to Door" was phenominal (and I think he even co-wrote it)! ...talk about talented. I feel sure that he'll win an oscar at some point. Damn, it's 10:30 on a Sat. night in L.A. and now I feel like going out to rent Fargo....AGAIN!!

11. Rent "Panic"
Great Macy role, a lead in this case. He plays a conflicted hit man. Terrific supporting cast includes Tracey Ullman, Donald Sutherland, Neve Campbell, and John Ritter. A true diamond in the rough.

Harry Dean was in an episode of "Andy Griffith" toward the end of it's run. He played a beach bum on an island.
Correction: He played the bar owner who kept asking everyone, "Wanna buy a ship in a bottle?"

13. Well....
I am simply beside myself thinking about Sean Astin not getting any nominations for his work in LOTR... and, I totally agree with you about W.H. Macy.. one of the greats of our time.
