Finally watched Real Time - Maher took care of the disruptors with class
This has nothing to do with MIHOP or LIHOP but everything to do with disruption.

When a disruptor comes to DU, we take care of him quickly and swiftly. That's exactly what Maher did. It doesn't matter if they were calling him out for wearing ladies underwear, or singing Waltzing Mathilda. It isn't The Price is Right - your job in the audience is to sit and listen.

I'm surprised there are those here on DU who think otherwise.

1. I saw it last night, and I agree with you
I doubt I would have handled it as well as Bill did. It's his show, and the topic at hand had nothing to do with what the heckler evidently wanted to discuss.

I also happen to not completely agree with Bill on the whole LIHOP/MIHOP matter (I run a bit tinfoil-heavy these days). If and when Bill feels like having that as a topic on his show and rips people who disagree with him up one side and down the other, I'll feel free to throw popcorn at the TV, call him an asshole, and/or switch the channel.

2. It certainly was entertaining
Oh wait, that's why I watch that show. To be entertained!

3. I think so too
It didn't make any sense to me that the protesters were protesting there. It would have made some tangential sense if the topic had been 9/11, but it wasn't. I don't understand why they thought BM show was the venue for their ire.

It's his show, and if people are disrupting the performance (for that's what it is), he has a right to through them out of the theatre.
