Boot camp employees not guilty in boy's death
OUTRAGE...THIS IS AN OUTRAGE !!!

PANAMA CITY, Florida (AP) -- Seven former boot camp guards and a nurse were acquitted Friday of manslaughter in the death of a 14-year-old boy who was hit and kicked by the drill instructors in a videotaped altercation.

Pam Bondi, a prosecutor, shows a video during the trial of seven boot camp guards and a nurse.

1 of 4 The video of a limp Martin Lee Anderson being hit and kicked by the guards after he collapsed while exercising drew protests in the state capital and spelled the end of Florida's system of boot camps for juvenile offenders. Anderson died at a hospital the day after the altercation.

The defendants, however, said they followed the rules at a get-tough facility where young offenders often feigned illness to avoid exercise.

1. Wow... I saw that footage on the news last night-
It looked insanely brutal- If those were, indeed, the rules then it's a good thing that place is shut down.

Anybody that was in the military- In boot camp, did they gang beat you as a punishment? Somehow, I'm thinking not (but this is a crazy world, so I'm not making any assumptions).

2. Not in the Army I was in
Drill sergeants at Basic werent allowed to touch you, or curse. Hitting a soldier was grounds for court martial. They could come up with some very creative ways to punish you, though.

3. That's what I remember hearing from my military friends....
They could make you suffer and never lay a finger on you... These ID10Ts were probably denied entry to any branch of service and were itching to take it out on someone...

13. Don't worry about those fired juvenile camp counselors... I got a feeling they'll find work soon
Maybe, I dunno, even a cooshy government job.

5. writing
A friend of mine in the Army said that during boot camp they couldn't give him pushups as a punishment anymore because he could do as many as they threw at him so they started making him write 500 and 1000 word essays.

6. The only person who would want to be THAT type of....
...drill instructor would be a sadistic and psychotic loser that couldn't hack it as a real drill instructor in the military.

4. There is no way in FUCK that this is justice!
:grr:

What possible justification could they have accepted for guards holding down, beating and dragging a kid, with his mouth covered and ammonia stuffed up his nose?
:wtf:

How is that not murder?

:nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke:

8. Sadly....
...when you hear that there's two types of justice, "black and white" it's undeniably true. Plus, that many guards against one kid?

11. I seems absolutely obvious that race and class had a hell of a lot
more to do with this ruling than law and justice. x(

They just renewed permission for anyone in authority to abuse and kill poor black kids on any pretense.

12. As stated in the article...
Edited on Fri Oct-12-07 03:00 PM by DaveTheWave
"The all-white jury took about 90 minutes to decide whether the guards were responsible for the death of Anderson, who was black"

And...

"The jury could have convicted them of lesser charges, including child neglect and culpable negligence, but did not"

They all walk free and with no consequences and they'll probably get awarded back-pay and benefits at that.

9. Let me get this straight...
You can't spank a child (not talking about a beating, a spanking) that's child abuse, but if a juvenile is in one of these "boot camps", he can be killed. Welcome to Amerika!
