Bionic Woman is incredible!
I mean, I suspected that it would suck, but it has so greatly exceeded my expectations of suckage that I can hardly contain my astonishment!

In just three short episodes it's jumped way past "curiously engaging" right into the midst of the very worst that the X-Files ever had to offer: dubiously ponderous government conspiracies; whispery voices dripping with earnest self-importance; and a penchant for referring to every character by his or her full name as often as possible!

I wouldn't have thought that the series could possibly have sucked so bad right out of the blocks!

If they don't settle down into some self-contained oneshot episodes before too long, then we won't have to wonder if there'll be a reincarnated Steve Austin or Max the Bionic Dog.

Keep up the great work, NBC!

1. What I learned from watching Bionic Woman:
there are no "normal woman" roles for Katee Sackhoff.

2. The replaced the show runner and much of the writing staff
before the show even aired, but after several episodes were already in the can. That's never a good sign.

I had high hopes for this show, but I tried to make it through the pilot and just couldn't. Special effects or no, this just doesn't compare to the Lindsay Wagner original. I don't know if it was Wagner's acting or the way her character was written or both, but it just seemed like Wagner had a lot more sympathy for the role.

3. The original was put together by entertainment people, who...
knew how to tell a fun story without taking it all so seriously. We LIKED Lindsay Wagner, and not just because she was gorgeous and sexy.

This mess was put together by a few dorks who think they're a lot smarter than they are and then "polished" by network suits.

4. Yeah. I want to give it at least 5 episodes
But I've been incredibly underwhelmed.

5. I have an additional problem.

Michelle Ryan, who plays the new Jaime Sommers, previously starred in the long-running UK soap opera Eastenders. She played teenaged-tearaway Zoe Slater in a long series of plot lines involving drug use, prostitution, rape, unwed motherhood, mistaken parentage and all the usual guff that soaps do so well. I can't look at her without hearing the hideous Cockney screech that was her preferred style of dialog delivery. "Oym the fackin' Bionic Woman, i'n oy? You lookin' for a fackin' slap inna maff, or wot?"
