3. I'll be right over.
I love hot Hatch chiles, especially Sandias. These days we grow and roast our own (Big Jims, Joe Parkers) but when we lived in Boston we splurged for a shipment of Hatch chiles every year.

8. say what you will about Texas, we gots the stuff on Mexican/SW food
I LOVE this grocery chain, Central Market, and the annual Hatch Chile Festival in early September. I stock up on hot and mild already roasted chiles and freeze them .I have about a years supply.

You can make a passable green chile stew with canned chiles by the way. I have done this when cooking in deprived areas of the country.

PM if you want my recipe it is quite easy.

to cure my cold. It helped.

HOPE YOU ARE BETTER SOON

15. Been to Central Market, have we?
Everyone up here keeps telling me how GREAT the Mexican food is at this place or that place, and I just chortle.

It just seems sacreligious to eat Mexican food in Wisconsin.

:hi:

18. ain't that the truth...now if I saw one that said "Tortillanda" or
Panderia or Juan's Taqueria I might think it would be decent.

I don't even want to think about eating Mexican that far north. Although, last time I was in Nashville I noticed a very definite Latino shift in the signs and so on in one area of town..in fact, the guys with the little green freezer carts and those divine coconut popsicles were right there on Nolensville Road in Nashville. I was ecstatic.

Yes I go to CM every week, actually. It is my regular store. I was in there tonight to get some road food for my trip tomorrow and when I walked in I looked around and sighed, because it will be two weeks before I can shop there again. How weird is that, to be that attached to your market? And the place was hoppin' Crammed parking log at 9:00 pm on a Friday night, typical Burgers and Bock night in the CM parking lot.

20. Well, one of the girls at work...
and I went out yesterday. She took me to one of the Mexican places called La Perla.

Meh. The shrimp tacos were good, but the salsa sucked (always the deciding factor for me). HAVE THESE PEOPLE NEVER HEARD OF CILANTRO???!! It had no taste to it. None.

And the rice and beans were directly out of a can.

I can tell I will have to make visits home just so I can stand it. The Blue Mesa has ruined all other salsas in the world for me.

21. honey, I make a damn fine salsa myself, Loaded with cilantro
garlic, lime juice and a dash of cumin .

I am in a rush this morning but can send it to you later. My family loves it and my Mexican niece proclaims it perfect except I don't salt it enough for her.

Off to Kentucky, time with my sister and her family and our cousins and a Reunion with my Old Caving Friends!

Back in a week

19. they are long green chiles, not too skinny, with a very fresh taste
and come in mild or hot. They have a wonderful odor, esp when you are looking at about 300 pounds of them all piled up in a bin. They are from an area around Hatch New Mexico which has been legendary for the excellent flavor of the chile peppers. They do taste different than other similar chiles and are wonderful roasted. August and September are when the harvest comes in and our local market has a Hatch Chile Festival featuring these wonderful peppers in all kinds of variations, including a marvelous in store made pesto with hatch,& poblano chiles and Mexican cheese, garlic. Wonderful with chicken. Hatch chile scones, buns, bread, brownies, tortillas, gelato, cornbread, sausages, hamburgers, cocktail sauce for shrimp. Divine
