Who the fuck cares how the Eagles are doing - GO PHILLIES
Mind you, my favorite team in baseball are the Cincinnati Reds but they are usually mathematically eliminated sometime around Memorial Day. Living near Philadelphia (and dating plenty of Phillies fans) makes the Phillies my #2 team

But the Phillies scraped back from behind to overtake the New York Mets on the very last day of the regular day season. Oh, and those Mets are watching the playoffs from home

GO PHILLIES!!!

1. GO PHILLIES Indeed
They were in first place two days this season, last Friday and then on the last day of the season, the only day that counts.

Utley-Rollins - CO MVP's

3. Utley was injured a good chunk of the season.
Rollins MVP, as we chanted earsplittingly Friday night. :D

4. I'm not the biggest Phillies fan
but to a man this is probably the scariest lineup offensively I've seen in ages. This series could easily end up being home run derby. The Phils have 5 of their first 6 batters with 20+ homers and 3 - 4 with 90+RBI's. That's too much fire power. They have great speed at the top with Rollins and Victorino. The best middle of the order in Utley-Howard-Rowland (or Burrell and vice versa) in either league.

It'll be up to the pitching not to lose games. Their weakness is by far middle releif. Let's hope they don't have to use them much.

5. Well at least we don't have Mitch Williams to lose the series for us

6. The stats are a little inflated
CBP is a hitter's park. Singles in other ballparks are homeruns down there. And I say this as a Phils fan (yes I like the Red Sox too). I'm looking forward to seeing how they do up against some powerhouse hitting teams.

PS. It's Rowand. Aaron Rowand. :)

7. my bad,
I used to coach a kid named Rowland. I do that every so often with Aaron Rowand.

I agree that CBP is a very friendly hitters park as is Coors Field. These are the 2 biggest launching pads in the game right now. Man for man, I still like the Phils lineup and would match them up against anyone in the league.

9. Don't lose hope, Lynne
The Phillies looked tight today, but it's the first playoff experience for many of the players. They have been resilient all year. I thought the ball and strike calling was inconsistent (Ryan Howard even complained,) but I'm not blaming that alone for the loss. The top of the lineup just has to hit better tomorrow.

10. Sorry about that whole losing Game 1 thing.
Actually, I'm not THAT sorry.

I do hope the Phillies win ONE game in this series... I'd love to see the Rockies up 2-1 going into Game 4, because that'd mean I'd be going to the game in which they could clinch the series!

That was one heck of a game today... Both pitchers sounded like they were incredibly sharp. Should be a very good series.

Oh, and GO ROCKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11. I still predict the Phils in 5
Edited on Wed Oct-03-07 07:09 PM by mvd
We shall see. I was disappointed in today, but doubt the Phils will lose tomorrow. And if the Rockies do win the series, the Phils took a big step and look to be a force for a while.
