Just learned Mr. DTBK got his research funding!

He worked SO HARD on this research proposal, and the first two submissions weren't funded, but the third and final one has been. He is absolutely over the moon. This means we'll be in Texas a while longer, which sucks for me, but I'm ecstatic for him. If I would get the job I interviewed for a couple of weeks ago I'd be really happy, but am growing increasingly discouraged as the days pass because I haven't heard anything more from them after they called requesting my references last Monday.

4. He's a psychiatrist - he has been trying to get federal funding from the NIH

His project involves the neurobiology of insight deficits in schizophrenia. This will really make his research career and transform him from being a junior investigator to an independent investigator. WOOHOO!

If they are checking your references, and you know your references will say good things about you, then it's almost certain you'll get the call.

The only time I've ever heard of a person getting that far and not getting the offer is when the job itself was pulled for budget reasons.

8. On your interview

If they asked for references they are interested. They may have trouble getting hold of references, thats happened to me. You may want to consider getting in contact with them....
And congrats on Mr. DTBK's grant..thats awesome...
