craigslist's "free" section is a menace!
Sometimes, I like to peruse the subcategory in the "for sale" category labeled "free", just to see what people are willing to get rid of. Today, I saw a cryptic entry reading

"There is a pile of free stuff, there is pieces of chain link fence, some pots for plants,a dog door, etc. Come and get it."

The listed address was only two blocks from my house. I swung the car over on my way back home from dinner to see what was there, and this horrible thing called out to me:

It's some sort of Fifties-style red leatherette lounge chair. The photo may not communicate the scale, but the stupid thing is about 18" tall and 31" long; too short to comfortably accomodate an adult, but entirely too long for a child. I cannot conceive of the sort of creature for whom this chair was designed. I imagine I'll have to get rid of it myself, since I can't really justify the use of space, but it is inexplicably compelling. Is anyone else fighting a losing battle with the lure of free shit?

1. yeah i love free crap
that's actually a nice find

instead of craig's list i do more on freecycle and try to make sure i make two or three gives for every "take"

i only list things i want to sell on craig's list

and then use any cash raised on food to keep the clutter from getting too ridiculous!

but i kinda like the coolio lounge chair, nice hand sir

3. i'm compelled to give stuff away, about every 3 months or so i go through
my house and garage and make up a bag for goodwill and then anything big goes on the curb where it's promptly removed within an hour.

4. Skin it and reuse the material for something else. :P
That's what I'd do.
