22. Hee hee...
well, trust me...I had more energy afterwards than I did before, so I think I stole some from her!

She's AMAZING. Really, so sweet and generous. And she has a fabulous smile, which she uses often.

She fielded some extremely tough questions with grace and intelligence. I think everyone walked away having learned something and feeling even more confident in their support for John.

I simply adore her...obviously.

I cannot tell you how much I have missed these wonderful threads...

And how many very special and warm memories I have of them, back from the summer of 2005...

That time is past now...but the memories remain brightly in my heart...

Thank you for resuming...

I hope you're well!

Remember the "chubby chaser" chick who had the hots for him and Paul?

Argh! What was the old dude's name? The one who had the occasional "gotcha" line, like, "Don't mention it, honey"? And the 30-ish, dark-haired guy who sat on the other side, one or two stools from the corner, next to Paul?

The old guy was Phil, and this I didn't know: he was Rhea Perlman's dad.

The dark-haired dude was Tim.

And Paul's last name in the show was... Krapence. :D

Think I'm gonna root for the Cubbies.

I am an American League girl, but Sweet Lou Pinella is the manager for the Cubbies, so I think I'll have to root for them.

39. Yeah, the Cubs are a given
I'm a sucker for the underdog, the downtrodden, the long-suffering.

But I gotta figure all the pairings. The AL looks like it'll start with the Angels at Boston and the Jankees at Cleveland. I'm sorta torn on the first one between Kollyforniya loyalty and really wanting to see a Sox-Cubs World Series.

Okay, I just decided. :D

NL, can't tell yet. I'd like to see the Rockies in post-season, though, just for the novelty of it. And I hope the Mets can get the East back from the Phillies.

(I gotta friend near San Diego who grew up in south Jersey, so he's a fan of both the Phillies and Madres. It just wouldn't do if he had two clubs in the playoffs.)

44. Every March, I pray to the Dogs of Baseball for two things:
• A really good pennant race involving the Dodgers. (They don't have to win, just so it's right down to the wire with three or four clubs, so every night I get to listen to one game while monitoring two or three others at mlb.com.)

• The Jankees to go 0-162.

So I'll settle for under .500.

Oh — and it'd also be really cool if A-Clod got so far out in front of a change-up that he screwed himself into the ground, like in the cartoons.

In his first at-bat of the season.

64. I was just looking at the Jankees' records in the '60s
after they fired Yogi Berra for losing the '64 Series to St. Louis. They were 99-63 that year, and 104-57 the year before under Ralph Houk (and lost the Series to the Dodgers :D ). They lured Johnny Keane away from St. Louis and promptly dropped to sixth at 77-85, then fired him 20 games into the '66 season when they started 4-16. They ended up dead last at 70-89 and didn't finish higher than second for the next nine years.

Ah, those were the days. :D

Edited on Sat Sep-29-07 03:11 AM by Joan_Alpern
I had a serious mouse invasion in NY (got rid of over a dozen in two weeks back in July & August) and a rat invasion in Fl. When you live in a country setting with pets in the house  sometimes aggressive measures are the only way to survive the onslaught of nature.

BTW I haven't cleaned behind my dresser since the room was painted the year I wintered in South Carolina back in 2003/04. I wonder how much money and how many missing crystals I'll find as I sanitize the place before moving the new stuff home.
mr.a was surprised every time he visited last winter white ceramic tile floors will inspire neatness!

40. I'm in NY until 10/10.
Then I'll be traveling with billyskank for 2 weeks.

Sometime in November or December I'm going to pack and ship everything to NY. We need to create empty spaces for 3 rooms of new stuff. I'm not leaving here until that's done or at least well into the final stages.

After that I'm taking Miss Frodo traveling with me (for the cold winter months) in a gently used 13 foot travel trailer pulled by a new Jeep complete with a navigation system so I can find my way. It's gotten difficult to read road signs and watch out for the other guys at night.

Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain
And the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet
When the wind comes right behind the rain.

Here's a Montana pic to simulate Oklahoma.
