I've got a new boat!
A 2004 IP370...

It's actually only half mine (joint ownership with a friend) and we'll be chartering it to folks out of the BVI's mostly. However, we'll be sailing it down there after hurricane season is over and using it once or twice a year ourselves.

Anyone wants to go sailing while they are in the islands, I'll give a big DU Lounge member discount. :)

3. LOL, I'd hate me too.
She is a beauty though. Powerboats are nice, but to me, nothing matches the beauty of a well designed bluewater sailboat. This one (although a 2004) is in Bristol condition.

I'm really looking forward to the long sail this November to the BVI's.

6. Thanks.
Actually, I'll be living the dream in 9 years when I can retire and sail fulltime. Until then, I have to be happy with whatever time I can get on the water. :hi:

8. What's the galley like?
My favorite fantasies are of cooking with a view of the ocean passing by. Oh, you are going to have such a great time, especially when you can sail full-time.

15. Wow, Fountain's are great boats.
That is a great cruising boat. I hope you enjoy it and take some good runs on her.

Even though sailing is my passion, I have a powerboat too (a 26 ft Formula Sunsport). It's hard to cruise without a powerboat when you only have a weekend, that's why I'm looking forward to retirement.

You are right, there is something about being on a boat, any boat. :hi:

I have steered (under supervision) the linked ship. And helped to haul up sails. It was fun!

I've always wondered how those windjammer cruises were. Was it worth it? I think I'd much rather do that than some modern cruise ship.

It definitely was worth it. Much better than stinkpots.

On edit: "Dressing for dinner" meant putting on a clean T-shirt.

26. Can I have your old boat?
Or do you have an old boat? I have always wanted a small simple fishing boat and a yellow lab puppy. That way I could train both myself and the puppy at the same time. I could train myself how to launch and guide the boat and train the puppy to stick with me while I go fishing. Seems like a little slice of Heaven to dream about that.

28. I sold the old sailboat last year and...
it's been killing me this summer not having a sailboat (beyond my daughters Hobie cat).

Sorry though, no fishing boat. However, the fishing boat and lab sounds like a nice dream. Of course, how would you keep the lab puppy out of the water and scaring all the fish away?

30. I would teach her to stay in the boat most of the time.
In any case, they DO call it "fishing" and not "catching" for a reason. I never care if I catch anything or not really. So, it would be more a chance to have fun than anything. :P

27. OK, now I've got a serious case of Boat Envy.
I have a Hunter 260, which I *was* perfectly content with.... Used to sail Lake Superior years ago, the BVI would be awesome. I totally covet your boat.

Besides, you've got a nice weekender there. I hope you get out some before it gets too cold up there. :hi:
